Abstract

PT XYZ is one of supplier Fast Manufacturing Customer Goods backsheet diapers that produces emmision and wastes along cycle of production. Based on previous research, the process production performance is inefficient. It is found various wastes and downtime, defect product as well as wasted production. This research aims to improve the production efficiency and to be environmental friendly that’s taking into account lean and green at the same time. To do so, Value Stream Mapping is utilized to identify the wasted activities. Identification of critical waste is performed by Borda Count Method. The critical waste in each production process is defect. The results of the environmental impact assessment with LCA method use software SimaPro is 115 kPt. Extruder process shows the highest environment impact because using materials from polyethylene low density granulate (PE-LLD). The highest category impact is fossil fuels, respiratory inorganics, and carcinogens. There are alternative improvements: the first is use recycle from waste extruder 10.18%; second are use recycle from waste extruder and slitting 16.5%; and third is changing material composition and re-layout of work in process (blank middle roll and printed middle roll). From quality and efficiency sides, selected alternative improvement is changing materials composition by increasing LLDPE portion in formula. Based on the company's target to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impacts, the selected alternative is the third improvement alternatives.
