Abstract

The propellers lay in a new concept, several experiments have taken place since World War II but no one has experimented. Summary, not many have used propeller layers. Whereas, the propeller layer provides flexibility to cavitation and corrosion erosion while providing a smooth vane surface with lower hydrodynamic barriers (Dashnaw et al, 1980). In Indonesia there are still few who apply the propeller coating in the shipyard. Because they only focus on the stomach. If the vane layer is processed then the sesame will reduce the cavitation on the propeller. The experiments were carried out on the prototype, the experiment was carried out by mounting the propeller on the axis located on the flow channel in the laboratory. At the same time, the current components are experimental and the variables are potentiometer rotation. From experimental propeller uncoating and coatings conducted at Flow Channel Laboratory of Marine Machinery Fluid in the experiment there is no very high phenomenon and there are several factors such as pressure, temperature and flow rate that can not reach before the experiment takes place. The difference between uncoating and coating is not very significant. The overall value obtained in the trials lasts 3% between uncoating and coating. For cavitation propellers a coating can be used to reduce cavitation even though ultimately its performance decreases.
