Abstract

At present eighty-nine percent of Indonesia's current electricity sources come from fossil energy sources. Seeing these conditions, a sustainable and environmentally friendly energy source solution is needed, and can be applied to areas far from the infrastructure center and shortages of electricity such as West Sumba Regency and South Timor Tengah Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. One solution for these energy sources is ocean wave energy. In this study, we will examine the design concept of the Oscillating Wave Surge (OWS) Sea Wave Power Plant with Peniche WaveRoller specifications with a power of 100 Kw. The research was conducted by calculating the wave energy potential per year, OWS energy production per year, and the electricity needs of the community to consider the feasibility of the tool design concept. From the two calculations and planning above, the construction of a 2MW capacity OWS wavefarm is more feasible in West Sumba, with a value of 9% Internal Rate of Return (IRR).
