Abstract

Concrete is a material that tend to crack easily because a relatively low tension stress. The effect of continuous loading will amplify “micro-crack” that will lead water and other substances to reside in the concrete and cause corrosion. In this research, the addition of bacteria and FABA as healing agents are expected to improve the self-healing capability of the concrete. The healing agent which contains bacteria are injected to the artificial “geopolimer” paste aggregate, are expected to localize the bacteria concentration and protect the bacteria from mixing process so it will do autonomous healing at the crack optimally. The addition of FABA to the matrix is expected to help the healing mechanism autogenously with creating new C-S-H compound. The artificial geopolimer aggregate composition use mass comparison between sodium silicate and sodium hidroxide with 1 : 2 comparison, wjile the mass comparison between alkali activator and fly ash use 1 : 4 comparison. The concrete composition contain 20% fly ash compared to binder weight and 5% bottom ash compared to fine aggregate weight. From this research, it will found the effect of healing agents addition and FABA to the concrete crack surface area, crack depth and paste compressive strength. Chemical research are done to determine which minerals are formed inside the crack, while the biological research are done to observe the condition of bacteria at certain period of time. The research result shows the addition of healing agent can obstruct the concrete strength development until the 28th day, but it performs actively at 7th days.. The effect of healing agents and FABA to crack’s surface area healing process and it’s depth are considered to be not fully significant.
