Abstract

PT Vale Indonesia Tbk has 14 units of compressor centrifuges and 3 units of Air dryers. Process Plant requires airflow between 32,000-35,000 SCFM and pressure between 5.5-6.5 kg/cm2 and dew point between 10-15 oC. Initial inspection before chemical cleaning is found to be fouling in shell & tube heat exchangers after operating for 12-14 years. Chemical cleaning on the air dryer were first carried out in August and September 2017. 3 units of air dryers and 13-14 units of compressor operated before chemical cleaning was carried out. Drop pressure that occurs 30-34 Psi and dew point> 20oC. Air pressure drops below 5.5 kg/cm2 resulting in interruption of operation in Dryer equipment, Kiln. After doing chemical cleaning on the shell & tube heat exchanger on the air dryer, the results obtained by the drop pressure are 5-10 Psi, the normal dew point is between 10-15 oC and 8-10 units compressors and 2 units of air dryers operate. This research method is to analyze the model of the increase in pressure difference caused by fouling with the limit of the difference in pressure that is still allowed. In addition, it also analyzes the time interval of the net state or the difference in design pressure until the difference in pressure is allowed with the largest profit. The best Interval given each 5 years on 30 years estimation with drop pressure up to 14.3066 Psi so that the constraint area to take a minimum of the pressure drop that given on operation and optimization (15 Psi), beside on the lowest cost cleaning given on 485,045 dollar each 5 years with the total estimation up to 30 years with 2,910,272 dollar.
