Abstract

Indigosol Golden Yellow IRK merupakan salah satu pewarna sintetis batik yang dapat mencemari ekosistem perairan apabila dibuang ke lingkungan secara langsung sebagai limbah. Untuk itu perlu dilakukan upaya penurunan konsentrasi pewarna sintetis Indigosol Golden Yellow IRK sebelum dibuang, salah satu cara yang efektif yaitu adsorpsi menggunakan karbon aktif. Metode adsorpsi yang digunakan adalah metode batch dimana adsorben dengan massa tertentu dan adsorbat (larutan Indigosol Golden Yellow IRK dengan konsentrasi tertentu) dikontakkan dalam waktu tertentu pula. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan penentuan kondisi optimum adsorpsi larutan Indigosol Golden Yellow IRK dengan parameter waktu kontak, massa adsorben, konsentrasi awal larutan, dan pH. Spektrofotometer UV-Vis digunakan sebagai instrumen pengukur absorbansi filtrat hasil adsorpsi sehingga dapat dihitung konsentrasi akhir larutan dan %removal larutan Indigosol Golden Yellow IRK. Dari hasil percobaan yang dilakukan secara triplo dengan relatif standar deviasi ≤ 2% didapatkan waktu kontak optimum adsorpsi selama 60 menit dengan massa adsorben sebesar 14 mg dan konsentrasi awal larutan Indigosol Golden Yellow IRK 60 ppm dalam kondisi asam (pH 4) dengan %removal sebesar 96,162% ± 0,616 serta dalam kondisi basa (pH 12) dengan %removal sebesar 99,604% ± 0,363.

Indigosol Golden Yellow IRK is one of batik synthetic dyes which can pollute aquatic ecosystems when disposed into the environment directly as waste. For this reason, it is necessary to remove Indigosol Golden Yellow IRK synthetic dyes before disposed, one of the effective method is adsorption using activated carbon. Adsorption method which used is batch method while adsorbents with certain mass and adsorbat (Indigosol Golden Yellow IRK solution with certain concentration) are contacted on certain time too. In this research, optimum conditions for adsorption Indigosol Golden Yellow IRK were determined by contact time, adsorbent mass, initial solution concentration, and pH parameters. Spectrophotometer UV-Vis is used as an instrument to measure the absorbance of filtrate from adsorption process, so that final concentration of solution can be calculated and %removal of Indigosol Golden Yellow IRK solution can be calculated too. From this results of experiments conducted in triplo with relative deviation standard ≤ 2%, the optimum contact time of adsorption was obtained for 60 minutes with adsorbent mass 14 mg and the initial concentration of the solution in acid condition (pH 4) with %removal 96.162% ± 0.616, also in base condition (pH 12) with %removal 99.604% ± 0.363.
