Abstract

Pada tahun 2018, Indonesia memiliki nilai “English Proficiency Index sebesar 51,58 dalam posisi ke-51 dari 88 negara yang disurvei secara global. Hal tersebut terdengar miris, mengingat di Indonesia pembelajaran berbahasa Inggris telah diberikan pelajar sejak duduk di bangku sekolah dasar. Berbagai solusi sudah tersedia, salah satunya adalah game edukasi yang hadir untuk memberikan pengalaman belajar bahasa Inggris yang menarik dan menyenangkan. Namun game edukasi di pasar masih didominasi oleh game edukasi yang berfokus pada peningkatan kemampuan membaca dan menulis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan sebuah prototype game edukasi, dirancang dengan pendekatan framework MDA, yang mengusung teknologi speech recognition untuk meningkatkan keterampilan pengguna dalam mengucapkan kata berbahasa Inggris.

In 2018, Indonesia had an English Proficiency Index of 51,58 in 51st position out of 88 countries surveyed globally. This sounds sad, considering that in Indonesia, English learning has been given by students since they were in elementary school. Various solutions are available, one of which is an educational game that is present to provide an interesting and enjoyable English learning experience. But the educational game on the market is still dominated by educational games that focus on improving the ability to read and write. This study aims to develop an educational game prototype, designed with the MDA framework approach, which carries speech recognition technology to improve user skills in speaking English words.
