Abstract
Papan partikel yang saat ini populer dikembangkan adalah papan partikel semen. Namun semen memiliki dampak buruk untuk lingkungan, maka penggunaan limbah sebagai campuran matriks dan filler akan mengurangi penggunaan semen. Material limbah tersebut adalah bata ringan dan cangkang kerang. Selain cangkang kerang, sebagai filler digunakan juga penguat berupa serat gelas yang memiliki sifat fisis dan mekanis yang baik.. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan berbagai variasi komposisi cangkang kerang, dan serat gelas pada komposit untuk aplikasi papan partikel semen. Pengujian yang dilakukan berupa pengujian fisis (absorpsi air dan densitas), pengujian mekanik (beban lentur dan kuat tekan). Dari hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa penambahan cangkang kerang dan serat gelas mampu membuat sifat fisis dan mekanik papan partikel lebih baik jika dibandingkan tanpa filler. Hasil dari pengujian sudah memenuhi semua standard ISO 8335, dengan nilai kuat lentur dan kompresi tertingginya masing-masing adalah ±118,26 kgf/cm2 dan ±547 kgf/cm2.

The particle board which is currently popular to developed is cement particle board. But cement has a negative impact for environment, so use the waste materials as additional matrix and filler will reduce the production of cement. The waste materials are light brick and shells. beside shells, the other reinforcement is also use fiberglass that has good physical and mechanical properties. This research was conducted with various compositions of shells waste and glass fibers for cement particle board application. Tests carried out consisted of physical testing (water absorption and density), mechanical testing (flexural strength and compression strength). From the results of research has found that the addition of shells and fiberglass make the physical and mechanical properties of cement particle board better than without fillers. The results of the tests have met all ISO 8335 standards, with the highest flexural and compression strength are ±118.26 kgf / cm2 and ±547 kgf / cm2.
