Abstract

The foundation has an important role in a building, where the foundation is used to place the building and carry the load from the upper structure into the ground. Hence,in the construction of a structure or a building a certain type of foundation is needed so that the foundation itself will be able to withstand the burden of the structure above so that the structure can stand firmly and safely. The same applies to the construction of the Ippi Passenger Terminal project in Ende, East Nusa Tenggara which uses 0.25 m x 0.25 m square pillar foundation with a depth of 3-4 meters to hold the load of the building and channel it to the ground. However at the time of pile erection, the results of the calendering method and PDA are far above the analytical calculation of the planner so that the construction process is terminated and the upper structure has not been constructed. On this basis, it is necessary to re-check the bearing capacity of the soil in the field to match the results of the calendering method and PDA. In addition, there will be an evaluation process on the pile foundation requirements as well as planning the continuous foundation of river stone as an alternative choice. The results of the investigation of soil, the area is dominated with sand-type soil with a Loose to Dense consistency on the depth of 0 - 45 meters (Source: Project Data). The carrying capacity of the soil at a depth of 4 meters, the calculation using the Meyerhof Method shows the value of Qult = 56.256 tons, while the result using the Luciano Decourt Method is Qult = 42.333 tons. In addition, the bearing capacity of the soil based on PDA tests and calendering tests in the field obtained an average value of Qult = 144,423 tons. After an evaluation is being conducted, it shows that several points requires the addition of piles in order to be able to withstand the load above them. The number of additional piles was taken from the highest number of required addition from several evaluation reviews and it can be concluded that the addition needed is 97 piles which needed a cost of Rp 580.081.896, while for the alternative continuous foundation using river stone, B dimensions needed = 1.5 meters and foundation height = 1 meter on the same building only costs Rp. 486,755,827.
