Abstract

Penggunaan Cr pada kegiatan industri dan rumah tangga berdampak pada terganggunya lingkungan perairan. Salah satu metode pengolahan limbah yang efektif, murah, dan ramah lingkungan untuk mengurangi konsentrasi Cr adalah fitoremediasi. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk menentukan efisiensi penyisihan logam berat kromium dengan bantuan tumbuhan eceng gondok. Dan juga dilakukan pemodelan menggunakan Design Box Behnken untuk mendapatkan hasil optimasi yang tepat pada proses penyisihannya. Digunakan 3 jenis variabel dalam proses fitoremediasi ini yakni variasi konsentrasi kromium, lama waktu penyisihan kromium, dan berat tumbuhan eceng gondok (Eichhornia crassipes) yang digunakan. Variasi konsentrasi kromium yang didapatkan berdasarkan Design Box Behnken adalah 0,75; 2,88; dan 5,0 mg/L. Untuk lama waktu penyisihan yang didapatkan adalah 0; 7,5; dan 14 hari. Sedangkan untuk berat tumbuhan eceng gondok sebanyak 200, 300, dan 400 g. Parameter yang akan diukur adalah penyisihan kromium, pH, suhu, dan laju evapotranspirasi. Setelah dilakukan penelitian selama 14 hari, didapatkan hasil efisiensi penyisihan kromium oleh eceng gondok dari 3 variasi konsentrasi. Penyisihan konsentrasi Cr6+ sebesar 0,75 mg/L dengan berat tumbuhan 400 g mampu menurunkan Cr6+ hingga effisiensi penyisihan mencapai 12,65%. Untuk penyisihan konsentrasi Cr6+ sebesar 2,88 mg/L dengan berat tumbuhan 400 g mampu menurunkan Cr6+ hingga effisiensi penyisihan mencapai 24,02%. Sedangkan untuk penyisihan konsentrasi Cr6+ sebesar 5 mg/L dengan berat tumbuhan 400 g mampu menurunkan Cr6+ hingga effisiensi penyisihan mencapai 30,14%. Laju evapotranspirasi terbesar adalah reaktor dengan konsentrasi Cr6+ sebesar 0,75 mg/L dan berat tumbuhan sebanyak 400 g dikarenakan faktor kerapatan tumbuhan terbesar dan juga konsentrasi Cr paling pekat. Perhitungan statistik menggunakan Response Surface Methodology Design Box Behnken menghasilkan nilai optimasi yaitu pada variasi konsentrasi 4,81 mg/L; lama waktu penyisihan 14 hari; dan berat tumbuhan 366,2 g dengan estimasi penyisihan kromium mencapai 33,59% dimana nilai desirabilitas mencapai 1.

The usage of chromium in industrial and household activities give high impact on the disruption of the aquatic environment. One of the most effective, inexpensive, and environmentally-friendly waste treatment methods to reduce chromium concentration is phytoremediation. This study aims to determine the efficiency of chromium as a heavy metal removal by water hyacinth, then inserted to Design Box Behnken model to get the most optimum results of the removal process. In this research, there were 3 variables were used in the phytoremediation process, which were chromimum concentration, times needed to remove chromium, and the weight of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) required. The variation of chromium concentration obtained based on Behnken Design Box , which were 0.75; 2.88; and 5.0 mg/L. Times variations obtained are 0; 7.5; and 14 days. As for the weight of water hyacinth varies 200; 300; and 400 g. Parameters to be measured in this study are evapotranspiration rate, pH, and temperature. After 14 days of research, the result of removal efficiency of chromium by water hyacinth was obtained from three variations of concentration. The concentration removal of 0,75 mg/L with weight of 400 g of plants was able to reduce the Cr6+ until 12,65%. As for the variation of 2,88 mg/L with weight of 400 g was able to reach 24,02% removal efficiency. And for variation of Cr6+ removal concentration 5 mg/L with weight of 400 g, was able to reduce Cr6+ until 30,14%. The largest evapotranspiration rate was reactor with concentration of Cr6+ of 0,75 mg/L and weight of 400 g. This is caused by density of the water hyacinth, it also has the minimum metal level and the placement of the reactor was the nearest to sun exposure. Statistical calculations using Response Surface Methodology Box Behnken Design give the result for the optimization which were a concentration of Cr6+ 4.81 mg/L; time removal 14 days; and plant weight 366,2 g with an estimated chromium reaching 33.59% where the value of desirability is 1.
