Abstract

Fenomena semakin pesatnya pembangunan gedung kantor di Surabaya membuat kebutuhan energi perkotaan meningkat. Kurangnya penyelesaian yang baik terhadap orientasi bangunan (dikarenakan terbatasnya lahan) berakibat pada semakin cepatnya peningkatan temperature bangunan itu sendiri maupun temperature perkotaan. Perlu pendekatan energi efisiensi yang berkaitan dengan strategi passive cooling (evaporative cooling) dalam merancang gedung kantor agar dapat menekan konsumsi energi. Perancangan gedung kantor hemat energi berfokus pada upaya-upaya dalam mengatasi permasalahan panas pada gedung perkantoran. Selubung gedung kantor yang biasanya memantulkan panas matahari (material kaca), pada perancangan ini didesain agar dapat menyerap atau menghambat panas matahari. Dengan konsep water spray envelope (evaporative cooling), selubung gedung perkantoran dirancang dapat mengalirkan air dan juga angin. Aliran air dihembuskan dengan angin dengan sistem spray agar dapat mereduksi suhu permukaan bangunan dan juga menghambat transfer panas kedalam bangunan. Prinsip desain pasif (perletakan inti bangunan, orientasi bangunan, aspek rasio bangunan), bentuk geometri, dan elemen pembayangan juga menjadi pertimbangan desain dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan panas pada gedung perkantoran. Dalam merancang gedung kantor hemat energi, proses perancangan mengacu pada proses perancangan force based framework. Proses perancangan force based framework adalah proses yang melihat faktor-faktor non-formal atau eksternal yang digunakan dalam mengambil keputusan dalam mendefiniskan sebuah bentuk atau desain. Dalam hal ini, faktor panas matahari dan efisiensi energi digunakan sebagai faktor eksternal dalam mengambil keputusan desain. Perancangan ini menghasilkan desain skematik gedung kantor hemat energi yang menerapkan water spray pada selubung bangunan. Selubung bangunan berfungsi sebagai elemen pembayangan (passive & active shading) yang terintegrasi komponen persebaran air (water spray). Water spray dengan memanfaatkan potensi angin mengakomodasi direct & indirect evaporation cooling untuk menghambat panas permukaan bangunan dan mendinginkan suhu ruangan bangunan.

The phenomenon of the rapidly development of office buildings in Surabaya makes urban energy increase. The lack of good solution to building orientation (due to limited land) results in a faster increase in building temperature itself and urban temperature. It needs an energy efficiency approach that is related to passive cooling strategy (evaporative cooling) in designing office buildings in order to reduce energy consumption. The design of energy efficient office buildings focuses on efforts to overcome the heat problem in office buildings. Office building skin usually reflect solar heat (glass material). In this design, office building skin is designed to absorb or protect the sun’s heat. With water spray envelope concept, office building skin is designed to accommodate water and wind. Water flow is exhaled by wind with spray system in order to reduce the temperature of building surface and also protect heat transfer into building. The principle of passive design (building core placement, building orientation, building aspect ratio), geometric shapes, and shading elements become a design consideration in solving heat problems in office buildings. In designing energy efficient office buildings, the design process refers to the force based framework. The force based framework is a process that looks at non-formal or external factors used in making decisions in defining a form or design. In this case, solar heat and energy efficiency are used as external factors in making design decisions. This design generates a schematic design of energy saving office buildings that apply water spray to the building envelope. The building envelope serves as shading element (passive & active shading devices) that integrates with water spray components. Water spray with utilize wind potential accommodates direct & indirect evaporation cooling to protect heat transfer in building skin and cool the temperature of building space.
