Abstract

Safety is one of the important priorities to consider when driving. One of the safety factors in a vehicle is the braking system in that vehicle. Nowadays, with the development of technology, many studies have been carried out on reliable braking systems that can minimize the occurrence of accidents due to poor braking systems, one of which is an anti-lock braking system (ABS). ABS allows the vehicle wheels not to be locked when hard braking occurs so that the vehicle can still be stable controlled. ABS performance is determined by the control system used on the ABS. There are two control methods that will be used in this study, proportional control (P) and sliding mode control (SMC). The result of this study is that a system without ABS causes the slip ratio reach 100% and the wheel is locked at 1.5 seconds after braking and stops at 3 seconds. By using proportional (P) control with a value of kp is 1.24 , the overshoot of the system is 60.81 % and the system stopped at 5.5 seconds and by using sliding mode control (SMC) the overshoot of the system is 48.35% and the system stopped at 8 seconds.
