Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang substitusi crumb rubber sebagai agregrat halus dengan variasi yaitu 0%, 5%, 10% dan 15%. Selain itu untuk meningkatkan ikatan crumb rubber terhadap campuran beton digunakan larutan NaOH 10% dengan pH 14 untuk merendam limbah karet ban. Perendaman dilakukan dengan variasi waktu selama 30 menit, 1 hari , dan 4 hari. Pengujian sifat mekanika beton dilakukan setelah 28 hari masa perawatan. Pengujian yang akan dilakuan meliputi pengujian kuat tekan beton, pengujian kuat tarik, dan pengujian densitas mengacu pada Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI). Semakin banyak komposisi campuran karet dalam beton maka nilai kuat tekan, kuat tarik belah, dan modulus elastisitas beton semakin menurun. Komposisi terbaik campuran beton limbah karet yaitu 5% dengan nilai kuat tekan 10,279 MPa, kuat tarik belah 2,613 MPa dan modulus elastisitas 14,46 GPa. Waktu yang optimal untuk melakukan prendaman remahan karet dalam larutan NaOH yaitu selama 1 hari.

Normally a concrete is brittle. In order to reduce the brittleness of a concrete, a material with high elasticity needs to be added on the concrete composition. In this research, crumb rubber was added to concrete compounds with the concentration of 0%, 5%, 10 % and 15%. Before adding to the concrete compound, the crumb rubber immersed in to 10% NaOH solution with pH of 14. The aim of this step was to increase the bond between rubber particles and concrete. The immersion time was also varied between 30 minutes, 24 hours and 4 days. The result showed that increasing crumb rubber addition on concrete lowered the value of compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and modulus of elasticity. The addition of crumb rubber with the concentration of 5% has the best performance, it has compressive strength of 10.279 MPa, splitting tensile strength of 2.613 MPa, and modulus of elasticity of 14.16 GPa. The optimum immersion time of crumb rubber in NaOH solution is 24 hours.
