Abstract
Pernapasan merupakan salah satu tanda vital yang harus
dipantau pada seorang pasien selain denyut nadi, detak jantung,
suhu tubuh, dan tekanan darah, karena dapat mengindikasikan
adanya suatu kelainan pada tubuh pasien. Dalam penelitian ini
telah dilakukan rancang bangun sistem monitoring pernapasan
berbasis serat optik berstruktur singlemode-multimodesinglemode (SMS) dengan jenis serat optik multimode coreless
step index sepanjang 22,30 mm. Proses monitoring pernapasan
terkait dengan fenomena perubahan suhu, tekanan, dan
kelembaban pada udara pernapasan, dimana perubahan tersebut
akan menyebabkan perubahan indeks bias kulit multimode
coreless sehingga menyebabkan perubahan penjalaran cahaya
yang terpandu didalam serat optik berstruktur SMS. Dari hasil
eksperimen ditunjukkan sensor SMS mampu memantau
pernapasan biasa, pernapasan cepat, dan pernapasan disertai
batuk. Adapun kelembaban merupakan faktor dominan yang
mempengaruhi kinerja sensor, dengan sensitivitas sensor sebesar
0,044 dBm/%. ========== Respiration is one of the vital signs that have to be
monitored in medical patients alongsides with pulse rate, heart
rate, blood pressure, and temperature as it may indicate the
presence of a anomaly on the patient's body. In this research, a
respiratory monitoring system has been done using singlemodemultimode-singlemode (SMS) fiber optic sensor structure with
multimode coreless step index optical fiber by length of 22.30
mm. The respiration monitoring system is based on the
phenomenon of temperature, pressure, and humidity changes in
the breathing air, where such changes will lead to changes in the
refractive index of multimode coreless cladding and then causing
changes in the propagation of the light guided in the optical fiber
structured SMS. The experiment results showed that SMS sensor
can be used for monitoring normal breathing, fast breathing, and
cough. Furthermore humidity is the dominant factor that affecting
the performance of the sensor with 0.044dBm/% sensitivity.
