Abstract
Pengelasan merupakan teknik fabrikasi yang umum digunakan
dalam sebuah konstruksi logam. Pada konstruksi kapal, material
yang umum digunakan adalah aluminium paduan magnesium
dengan seri penamaan aluminum alloy (AA) 5083. Paduan
aluminium merupakan logam yang memiliki sifat weldability yang
kurang baik sehingga dikembangkan metode yang baru yaitu
friction stir welding. Pada penelitian ini digunakan paduan
aluminium AA 5083 untuk dilakukan pengelasan friction stir
welding secara butt joint. Parameter yang digunakan adalah
kecepatan putaran tool 1115&1725 rpm dan sudut kemiringan
tool 00 & 20. Dari hasil yang diperoleh, ditemukan adanya cacat
pengelasan berupa ketidaksempurnaan daerah adukan las.
Peningkatan rpm dan penurunan kemiringan tool menghasilkan
masukan panas yang semakin besar sehingga mempengaruhi
struktur mikro dengan didapatinya Mg2Si. Distribusi kekerasan
menunjukkan nilai kekerasan yang semakin menurun dari daerah
base metal ke nugget zone. Namun nilai penurunannya tidak
signifikan karena sifat aluminum 5083 yang tidak dapat
diperlakupanaskan. =========== Welding is a common fabrication technique used in a metal
construction. On the construction of ship, a commonly used
material is aluminum-magnesium alloy with naming series
aluminum alloy (AA) 5083. Aluminum is a metal that has lack
weld ability properties so that new method developed. That
method is friction stir welding. On this research is used aluminum
alloy 5083 to do friction stir welding in butt joint. Parameter used
is the speed of tool rotation 1115 and 1725 rpm, then tilt angle of
tool is 00 and 20. From the result obtained, it was discovered the
existence of defect from welding imperfection that formed at
stirred nugget zone. An increase rpm and decreased tilt angle of
tool generates heat that bigger so that affects in the
microstructure and be found Mg2Si. The distribution of hardness
showed the value hardness decrease from the base metal to
stirred nugget zone. But the value of his descent is not significant
because the properties of aluminum alloy 5083 that can non heat
treatable.
