Abstract
Rumah Niang adalah salah satu dari sepuluh ragam Arsitektur Tradisional di
Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur yang berada di dataran tinggi Kabupaten
Manggarai (800 - 1200 dpl), yang tumbuh dari rakyat dengan segala macam
tradisi serta memanfaatkan berbagai potensi-potensi lokal seperti material,
teknologi dan pengetahuan yang ada. Namun potensi-potensi lokal seperti
penggunaan material lokal (lightweight) tersebut menimbulkan permasalahan di
daerah dataran tinggi yang cenderung dingin (To: 15°C - 25°C, RH: 85%) karena
sifat termal dari material lightweight mudah lepas dan mengalir keluar sehingga
dapat berpotensi menciptakan kondisi underheating dan mempengaruhi kondisi
kenyamanan dalam bangunan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi
pengaruh desain rumah Niang dalam merespon kondisi termal di dataran tinggi
dan menganalisa perilaku material dari elemen desain yang berpengaruh terhadap
kondisi termal rumah Niang.
Metode penelitian ini adalah simulasi dengan bantuan software ARCHIPAK
versi 5.0. Simulasi dengan software ARCHIPAK digunakan untuk mencari
pengaruh variabel bebas berupa bentuk (volume dan proporsi), elemen (luas
permukaan) dan material (thermal properties) terhadap variabel terikat berupa
kondisi termal di dataran tinggi. Simulasi dilakukan pada 3 model desain rumah
Niang dengan perbedaan tipologi bentuk, proporsi dan elemen material yang
digunakan.
Hasil akhir dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa desain rumah Niang
belum dapat memberikan kenyamanan termal yang memadai terutama pada
malam hari hingga pagi hari, dimana kondisi nyaman saat bangunan aktif
digunakan hanya 7 jam di bulan terdingin dan 8 jam di bulan terpanas. Dari
simulasi juga dapat diketahui bahwa lantai dan atap merupakan elemen yang
paling kritis terhadap pelepasan panas. Meskipun dalam kondisi suhu udara yang
cukup dingin, penghuni rumah Niang masih dapat merasakan nyaman. Untuk
mengatasi kondisi tersebut penghuni melakukan adaptasi dengan menggunakan
pakaian yang berlapis-lapis dengan nilai insulasi pakaian 0,96 clo hingga 1,30 clo.

Niang home is one of the ten varieties of Traditional Architecture in East Nusa
Tenggara province located in the highlands of Manggarai regency (800 - 1200
above sea level), which grew out of people with all kinds of traditions and utilize
a variety of local potentials such as materials, technology and knowledge which
exists. But local potentials such as the use of local materials (lightweight) raises
problems in upland areas that tend to be cold (To: 15 ° C - 25 ° C, RH: 85%) due
to the thermal properties of lightweight material is loose and flowing out so can
potentially create underheating and conditions affecting comfort conditions in
buildings. This research aimed to evaluate the effect of Niang home design in
response to thermal conditions in the highlands and analyze the behavior of the
material of the design elements that influence the thermal conditions Niang home.
This research method is simulated with the help of software ARCHIPAK
version 5.0. Simulation with ARCHIPAK software used to find the influence of
independent variables such as shape (volume and proportion), element (surface
area) and material (thermal properties) on the dependent variable in the form of
thermal conditions in the highlands. Simulations were performed on three models
with different designs Niang house typology shape, proportion and material
elements are used.
The final results of this study indicate that design of house Niang can not
provide adequate thermal comfort, especially at night until morning, where
comfortable condition when active building used in coldest month only 7 hours
and 8 hours of hottest months. From the simulation can also be seen that floor and
roof is the most a critical element of the heat release. Although the air temperature
is cold enough, occupants of the house Niang can still feel comfortable. To
overcome the condition occupants adaptation using layered clothing and add a
jacket, gloves, head cover and neck with clothing insulation values 0.96 - 1.30 clo.
