Abstract

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) is the ability of a device or system to operate normally in an electromagnetic environment without being affected or generating interference with its environment. EMC in addition to relating to the quality and quality of a product, is also closely related to the level of security and safety for the user. Therefore, EMC measurement is very important to do. Since the current use of mobile phones has never been separated from human needs and Wi-Fi facilities are also increasingly being used by its users, this Final Project will design a specific configuration for measuring radiated emission on the Wi-Fi frequency of mobile devices. However, because measurements in EMC laboratories require large costs, a simple configuration design with campus laboratories’s equipment is needed in order to be more efficient in cost and can be an alternative laboratory for EMC measurement. This final project will use a method based on the CISPR 22 by making several EMC measurement conditions carried out with the help of software as a reference. After getting results with the same conditions, the measurement results with the 0,8 – 18 GHz antenna (software help) and the 2,17 – 3,3 GHz antenna (manually) will be compared with each other. So that the average value of maximum-peak measurement of the strength of the electromagnetic field from five handphones with the Baristand antenna is 63.473 dBµV/m and is 27.445 dBµV/m for the average value of average-peak. As for measurements with antenna-ITS, the average value of maximum-peak is reached 57.512 dBµV/m with an average-peak of 20.307 dBµV/m. While the five tested-mobile devices were declared to have passed the tests of both antennas because the margins of the their maximum-peak and average-peak has fulfilled requirements of CISPR 22. Therefore, the proposed measurement configuration with the 2.17 - 3.3 GHz antenna can be applied. With notes, measurements must be made in an anechoic chamber.
