Abstract

Pembuangan limbah ke Sungai Welang yang berasal dari industri penyamakan kulit dapat menyebabkan penurunan kualitas air. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas air di Muara Welang akibat pembuangan limbah industri dan menentukan upaya pengendalian pencemaran air di muara Welang. Permodelan hidrodinamika dan kualitas air menggunakan software MIKE21 dengan modul ECO Lab digunakan untuk mengetahui pola sebaran parameter kualitas yaitu DO, BOD, COD, TSS, amonia, krom, dan sulfida. Hasil pemodelan menunjukkan konsentrasi DO antara 1.16-9.10 mg/L pada saat pasang dan 2.15-8.97 mg/L saat kondisi surut. Konsentrasi BOD antara 4.27-23.52 mg/L pada saat pasang dan 4.27-21.60 mg/L saat surut. Konsentrasi COD antara 22.12-45.52 mg/L pada saat pasang dan 23.27-56.08 mg/L saat surut. Konsentrasi TSS antara 42.23-617.20 mg/L pada saat pasang dan 39.75-579.25 mg/L pada saat surut. Konsentrasi amonia antara 0.082-26.844 mg/L pada saat pasang dan 0.367-24.881 mg/L pada saat surut. Krom memiliki konsentrasi yang hampir sama saat pasang dan surut. Konsentrasi krom berkisar antara 0.023-0.036 mg/L pada saat pasang dan 0.023-0.037 mg/L saat surut. Konsentrasi sulfida antara 0.0013-0.0118 mg/L pada saat pasang dan 0.0013-0.0113 mg/L saat surut. Konsentrasi BOD dan amonia pada 4 stasiun menunjukkan nilai yang melebihi standar baku mutu berdasarkan Peraturan Pemerintah No. 82 Tahun 2001 dan Keputusan Menteri Lingkungan Hidup No. 51 Tahun 2004. Konsentrasi DO, TSS, dan sulfida di stasiun 1 dan 2 pada waktu tertentu nilainya juga melebihi baku mutu, sedangkan pada stasiun lainnya masih memenuhi baku mutu. Konsentrasi COD dan krom pada 4 stasiun menunjukkan nilai yang masih memenihi kriteria baku mutu. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan dalam pengendalian pencemaran di Muara Welang antara lain melaksanakan pemantauan kualitas air secara rutin, meningkatkan pengelolaan limbah industri sebelum dibuang ke sungai, meningkatkan pengawasan dan pemantauan pembuangan air limbah ke sungai serta penegakan sanksi hukum maupun penghargaan kepada industri.

Disposal of waste into the Welang river originating from the leather tanning industry can cause a decrease in water quality. This study aims to determine water quality in Welang Estuary due to industrial waste disposal and determine efforts to control water pollution in the Welang Estuary. Hydrodynamic and water quality modelling using MIKE21 software with ECO Lab module is used to determine the distribution pattern of water quality parameters, namely DO, BOD, COD, TSS, ammonia, chromium, and sulfide. Modelling results show DO concentrations between 1.16-9.10 mg/L at tide and 2.15-8.97 mg/L at ebb. BOD concentrations between 4.27-23.52 mg/L at tide and 4.27-21.60 mg/L at ebb. COD concentrations between 22.12-45.52 mg/L at tide and 23.27-56.08 mg/L at ebb. TSS concentrations between 42.23-617.20 mg/L at tide and 39.75-579.25 mg/L at ebb. Ammonia concentrations between 0.082-26.844 mg/L at tide and 0.367-24.881 mg/L at ebb. Chromium has almost the same concentration at tide and low ebb. Chromium concentrations ranged from 0.023-0.036 mg/L at tide and 0.023-0.037 mg/L at ebb. Sulfide concentrations between 0.0013-0.0118 mg/L at tide and 0.0013-0.0113 mg/L at ebb. BOD and ammonia concentrations at 4 stations show values that exceed the quality standard based on government regulations No. 82 of 2001 and Environment Ministerial Decree No. 51 of 2004. DO, TSS, and sulfide concentrations at stations 1 and 2 at a certain time the value also exceeds quality standards, while at other stations are still in a safe condition. The concentration of COD and chromium at 4 stations shows a value that still in a safe condition. Efforts that can be taken to controlling water pollution at Welang Estuary include carrying out routine water quality monitoring, improving industrial waste management before being discharged into rivers, increasing supervision and monitoring of waste water discharges into rivers and enforcing legal sanctions and rewards for the industry.
