Abstract

Studi tentang smart materials cukup menyita perhatian dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, salah satunya yaitu tentang Shape Memory Alloys (SMA). Banyak penelitian yang telah dilakukan untuk mengembangkan SMA menggunakan paduan Ni-Ti, namun karena paduan tersebut memiliki beberapa kekurangan, maka muncullah untuk membuat alternatif paduan lain yaitu paduan Cu-Zn-Al. Untuk medapatkan SMA dapat dilakukan dengan cara pengecoran. Pada penelitian ini paduan Cu-21Zn-5Al diberikan proses perlakuan panas homogenizing, annealing, dan solution treatment dengan holding time 10, 30, dan 60 menit dengan masing-masing holding time dilakukan quenching dengan media pendingin brine solution dan dry ice untuk mengetahui pengaruhnya terhadap efek shape memory dan struktur mikro. Selanjutnya dilakukan pengujian kekerasan, XRD, metalografi, DSC, dan efek shape memory. Dari hasil pengujian yang telah dilakukan, didapatkan bahwa efek shape memory dimiliki oleh semua spesimen, dimana recovery yang paling tinggi dimiliki oleh spesimen pada holding time 10 menit dengan media pendingin brine solution sebesar 36,67%. Selain itu pada semua spesimen terbentuk fasa α, β, γ, serta martensit akibat pendinginan cepat.

The study of smart materials has received quite a bit of attention in recent years, one of them is about Shape Memory Alloys (SMA). Much research has been done to develop SMA using Ni-Ti alloys, but because these alloys have some drawbacks, it has emerged to make alternative alloys, namely Cu-Zn-Al alloys. To make SMA can be done by casting. In this study, Cu-21Zn-5Al alloys were given a several treatment such as homogenizing, annealing, and solution treatment process with holding time of 10, 30, and 60 minutes with each holding time were quenched with the cooling medium brine solution and dry ice to determine its effect on shape memory and micro structure effects. Then, several test is applied such as hardness test, XRD, metallography, DSC, and shape memory effect. From the results of tests that have been carried out, it is found that the shape memory effect is owned by all specimens with the highest recovery owned by the specimens at holding time of 10 minutes and cooling media brine solution with recovery 36.67%. In addition, α, β, γ phase appear in all spesimen and martensite are formed due to rapid cooling.
