Abstract

Penggunaan hydrofoil pada kapal katamaran dapat mengurangi hambatan yang dihasilkan oleh kapal pada kondisi tertentu. Pengurangan hambatan kapal terjadi karena gaya angkat yang menangkat lambung kapal di atas permukaan ari sehingga mengurangi area permukaan basah kapal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh penambahan foil pada lambung kapal katamaran terhadap hambatan total kapal menggunakan pendekatan CFD dan eksperimen. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan objek kapal katamaran dengan panjang 44 meter dengan 2 variasi hydrofoil: 1 foil yang diletakan pada bagian haluan, dan 2 foil (1 foil pada bagian haluan dan 1 foil pada bagian buritan). Hydrofoil yang digunakan adalah foil NACA 641-212 dengan aspek rasio 16.34. hasil peneltian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan hambatan total kapal. pada kecepatan dinas (Fr = 0.7) nilai hambatan total kapal katamaran tanpa foil adalah 114.59 kN. Terjadi peningkatan hambatan kapl katamaran dengan 1 foil dan 2 foil masing-masing 31% dan 59% lebih tinggi daripada kapal katamaran tanpa foil

The use of hydrofoil on a catamaran can reduce the resistance produced by the ship at a certain condition. This occurs because of the lifting force that lifts the ship's hull above the waterline so that it reduces the wetted surface area. This research aims to study the effect of adding foil in the hull of a catamaran on the total resistance of the ship using experimental and numerical CFD methods. A 44m catamaran was considered with two variations of hydrofoil: 1 foil on bow section, and 2 foil (1 on bow section and 1 on the stern section). The hydrofoil is rectangular NACA 641-212 section with aspect ratio of 16.34. the results indicate that there is increasing in ship resistance instead of decreasing it on the catamaran with foil. At service speed (Fr = 0.7) total resistance value occurs in case 0 as the existing catamaran without foil is 114.59 kN, catamaran with 1 added foil on the bow section and catamaran with 2 added foil on both bow and stern section is respectively 31% and 59% higher than the catamaran without foil.
