Abstract

Kualitas adalah salah satu indikator penting bagi perusahaan untuk dapat eksis di tengah persaingan kekuatan industri. Munisi kaliber 5,56 mm terutama varian MU5-TJ adalah komoditas utama produk munisi di PT. Pindad. Proses produksi munisi meliputi produksi longsong, produksi pelor, produksi penggalak, dan penyusunan munisi. Dalam proses produksi munisi, cost of defective terbesar disebabkan defect pada proses penyusunan munisi kaliber 5,56 mm yaitu sebesar 32,3%. Dalam proses penyusunan munisi kaliber 5,56 mm, sebagian besar defect berasal dari varian MU5-TJ dimana menyumbang 64% dari cost of defecive product untuk munisi kaliber 5,56 mm. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pada proses penyusunan munisi MU5-TJ dengan meningkatkan level sigma proses, sehingga cost of defective product akan berkurang dan menghasilkan cost saving. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Metode Six Sigma melalui fase Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, dan Control (DMAIC). Pada setiap tahap DMAIC, tedapat tools yang digunakan dalam perbaikan. Hasil identifikasi kualitas menunjukkan bahwa proses timbang dan mal merupakan faktor penyumbang defect terbesar dalam proses penyusunan munisi MU5-TJ dengan jenis defect terbesar yaitu munisi ringan (kurang isian propellant). Hasil pengujian chi-square menunjukkan bahwa faktor penyebab cacat yang berpengaruh signifikan diantaranya keberadaan sensor isian, komposisi vernis, material perkakas, dan metode inspeksi. Untuk menurunkan defect tersebut, selanjutnya dilakukan perbaikan dengan pemasangan sensor isian pada mesin susun munisi, perubahan komposisi vernis mulut longsong, penggunaan perkakas yang terbuat dari hartmetall, dan autocontrol oleh operator setiap 15 menit. Hasil implementasi dari perbaikan yang dilakukan menghasilkan peningkatan level sigma dari 3,69 menjadi 3,79 dan pada akhirnya menghasilkan cost saving sebesar Rp. 275.421.993,96 selama periode 5 bulan.

Quality is one of the important indicators for companies to be able to exist in the midst of competitive industrial strength. 5.56 mm caliber munitions especially MU5-TJ variant are the main commodity of munition products at PT. Pindad. The processes in the ammmunition production consist of making cartridge cases, making bullets, making primers, and assembling munitions. In the process of producing munitions, the largest cost of defective is caused by defects in the assembly process of the 5.56 caliber munitions, which is 32.3%. In the process of assembling 5.56 mm caliber munitions, most of the defects came from the MU5-TJ variant which accounted for 64% of the cost of defective product for 5.56 mm caliber munitions. This study aims to improve the quality of the MU5-TJ munition assembly process by increasing the sigma level of process, so that the cost of defective product will be reduced and result in cost savings. The method used in this study is the Six Sigma Method through the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) phases. At each stage of DMAIC, there are tools used in the improvement. The results of quality identification indicate that the weighing and gaughing process are the biggest contributing factors to the defect in the MU5-TJ munition assembly process with the largest type of defect is improper ammunition weight (lack of propellant powder filling). The results of chi-square test showed that the factors causing defects that had a significant effect included the presence of sensor filling, varnish composition, tools material, and inspection methods. To reduce the defect, further improvements were made by installing powder filling sensor in the ammunition assembly machine, changing the composition of mouth varnish of the cartridge case, using tools made from hartmetall, and autocontrol system by the operator every 15 minutes.The results of improvements that have been made show an increase in sigma level from 3.69 to 3.79 and ultimately results in a cost saving of Rp. 275,421,993.96 during five months period.
