Abstract
Botol kaca merupakan material yang sangat getas, hal
inilah yang menyebabkan proses pemesinan botol kaca sangat
terbatas sehingga banyak limbah botol kaca yang terbuang sia-sia.
Padahal jika diproses lebih jauh (recycle), limbah botol kaca
tersebut dapat menjadi barang yang memiliki nilai tambah dan dapat
diperjualbelikan seperti lampu hias, asbak, media tanam hidroponik,
dll. Teteapi sebelum diproses lebih jauh, botol kaca tersebut harus
dipotong terlebih dahulu. Berdasarkan fakta di atas, dirancanglah
mesin pemotong botol kaca silinder posisi horizontal untuk hiasan.
Sebelum dilakukan perancangan, terlebih dahulu dilakukan
observasi mengenai jenis dan ukuran botol serta jenis-jenis mata
potong untuk kaca. Selain itu, dilakukan studi literatur mengenai
kekuatan tarik kaca dan elemen mesin yang dibutuhkan untuk
merancang alat ini. Setelah diketahui elemen mesin yang akan
digunakan, alat yang akan dirancang digambar terlebih dahulu
sehingga dimensi alat dapat diketahui. Percobaan alat dilakukan
setelah perancangaan. Jika alat masih belum bekerja secara optimal
akan dilakukan perencanaan kembali.
Dari perencanaan dan pendekatan perhitungan yang
dilakukan diperoleh gaya pemotongan sebesar 4,2 kgf, dengan
putaran perencanaan 35 rpm dihasilkan daya motor sebesar 3,07 W
sehingga motor dengan daya 6 W digunakan, kekuatan minimum
material power screw sebesar 6,07 kgf/ mm2, dengan putaran
perencanaan 100 rpm diperoleh daya motor untuk memindahkan
mata potong melalui power screw adalah 3,3 W sehingga motor
dengan daya 6 W digunakan serta diameter minimum kawat pegas
sebesar 0,8 mm digunakan kawat pegas sebesar 1 mm dan diameter
gulungan pegas sebesar 4 mm digunakan diameter gulungan pegas
sebesar 6 mm. Setelah dilakukan percobaan menggunakan pemanas,
diperoleh kapasitas pemotongan sebesar 34 botol per jam untuk
botol berdiameter 85 mm dan 37 botol per jam untuk botol
berdiameter 50 mm. Sedangkan percobaan tanpa menggunakan
pemanas diperoleh kapasitas pemotongan sebesar 5 botol per jam
untuk botol berdiameter 85mm dan 50 mm

Glass bottle is very brittle material, this causing glass
bottle has very low machinability so there are many glass bottle
wastes wasted in vain. Whereas if we could recycle that glass bottle
waste, it would be a stuff which has added value and has
merchantability such as lamp ornament, ashtray, media for
hydroponic plant, etc. However those glass bottle has to be cut
before further process. Based on the fact above, the horizontalpositioned
cylinder glass bottle cutting machine for ornament was
designed.
Before the machine start build, first observation about
bottle kind, size and glass cutter tool. Reference also searched to find
glass strength and machine element which will used. After machine
element which will used have known , the machine start to drow so
the dimension of the machine can be known. Trial was held after the
machine finish built. If the machine work do not optimally work,
design step have to be did once again.
From the design and approximate calculation obtained
that cutting force is 4,2 kgf, with rotational speed design is 35 rpm
obtained that motor power is 3,07 W so 6 W DC motor is used,
minimum UTS for power screw is 6,07 kgf/ mm2, with rotational
speed design is 100 rpm obtained that motor power for moving the
cutting toolpost through the screw is 3,3 W so 6 W DC motor is used minimum spring wire diameter is 0,8 mm so we use 1 mm diameter of
spring wire and spring coil diameter is 4 mm so we use 6 mm
diameter of spring coil. After the trial with heat were held, obtained
that the cutting capacity is 34 bottles each hour for bottle with 85
mm diameter and 37 bottles per hour for bottle with 50 mm diameter.
Instead when the trial were held without heat, obtained that the
cutting capacity is five bottles per hour both for bottle with diameter
85 and 50 mm
