Abstract

=================================================================================
Aluminium 6061 is a heat treatable aluminium alloy, this series contains Al-Mg-Si as its main alloy composition which is often used for offshore structural material due to its high strength, good ductility and good corrosion resistance as well as its mechanical properties can be enhanced by heat treatment. The purpose of this paper is to show how the withdrawal of heat treatment variation in the form of preheating and aging PWHT on aluminum welding connection 6061 with GTAW process to tensile strength and micro structure with electrode ER 5356. The temperature variation of preheat is 80°C, 100°C, and 120°C and the variation in temperature aging pwht 180°C and 260°c. The results of the study obtained spesimens with preheat treatment 120°C and aging pwht 260°C have the largest ultimate strength of 246.74 MPa and yield strength of 125.21 MPa. As well as the longest HAZ, the preheat treatment spesimen is 120 ℃ and aging PWHT 260 ℃ with a HAZ width of 3.5 mm. The most Mg2Si-process results are owned by the preheat spesimen 120°C and aging pwht 260°C with a percentage of 48.84% in weld metal, 58.75% in HAZ, and 43.54% in base metal
