Abstract

Kata kunci : Pressure Vessel, Tailing Lug, Base Ring Stiffener (Strut), Base Ring ======================================================== The lifting & erection process must be done safely so as not to tear and bend. In this process, the PV is moved in a horizontal position to a vertical position. A Horizontal position is when fabricating and shipping. After arriving at the site, the next process is changing the horizontal into a vertical. In this case, the Compress software is used to design components in the lifting & erection process. However, Compress software cannot give definitive results, only include lug design options, plate thickness, and base ring. If the base ring component is overstressed, the Compress software will give the option to add a base ring stiffener (strut) 2 point type component located in the middle of the base ring. If the design is still not accepted, then it must determine another type of strut with hand calculations according to the Pressure Vessel Design Manual Book by Dennis R. Moss (2004). The first step in the manual calculation is to make a free body diagram (FBD) on the lifting & erection system. After getting the equation from the system, we will get the load value on the lug calculated for each 5- degree angle variation. This biggest load will be a reference for designing lifting lug, tailing lug, base ring, and strut. Strut variations used are type 2 points, 3 points, and 4 points. The method used is to analyze the beam on each type of strut. This design will also be validated by simulations using Autodesk Inventor software. The results obtained from this research are an additional strut design with strut 2 point type is unaccepted with maximum stress 197.8 MPa. The maximum stress value is above the allowable stress value of 186,2 Mpa. In addition, the maximum displacement located at the end of the drain with a value of 5.143 mm. Design with additional strut 3 and 4 points are accepted because the maximum stresses of 126 Mpa and 110,2 Mpa are still below the allowable stress value of 186.2 Mpa. In addition, the maximum displacement located at the end of the drain with a value of 4,107 mm and 4,086 mm. Then from the three designs, based on the suitability of the design, cost, and treatment of the material, the base ring design with an additional strut 3 point type is the most efficient design for pressure vessel item C-335-01.
