Abstract

Bijih nikel laterit adalah sumber daya alam yang sangat berpotensi di Indonesia yang biasa diolah menjadi feronikel. Pada proses pengolahan feronikel, terdapat proses kalsinasi yang bertujuan untuk menghilangkan kadar air dari bijih nikel laterit dan terjadinya reduksi awal. Proses kalsinasi memiliki banyak faktor, salah satunya temperatur tahan. Temperatur tahan ini mempengaruhi hasil dari produk kalsinasi bijih nikel laterit. Pada tinjauan literatur ini dilakukan analisis pengaruh temperatur tahan terhadap proses transformasi fasa dan perolehan kadar Ni. Pada tinjauan literatur ini diharapkan dapat memberikan tinjauan tentang hasil analisis pengaruh temperatur tahan dalam proses kalsinasi bijih nikel laterit serta dapat memberikan rekomendasi temperatur tahan yang digunakan untuk pengoptimalan kinerja pada ranah industri feronikel. Pada review ini didapatkan temperatur optimal pada temperatur tahan 1000⁰C dengan kadar Ni sebesar 2,27%. Temperatur awal mulai terjadinya transformasi fasa pada bijih nikel laterit untuk Fe sekitar 275⁰C dan untuk Ni sekitar 500⁰C. Terjadinya transformasi goethite menjadi hematite antara 300⁰C-350⁰C. Terjadinya transformasi hematite menjadi magnetite antara 850⁰C-1000⁰C. Dalam review ini, temperatur tahan 1000⁰C lebih optimal karena telah terjadi transformasi fasa yang kompleks dan mendapatkan kadar Ni yang lebih tinggi.

Laterite nickel ore is a potential natural resource in Indonesia which is usually processed into ferronickel. In the process of ferronickel processing, there is a calcination process which aims to eliminate the moisture content of the laterite nickel ore and the initial reduction occurs. The calcination process has many factors, one them is holding temperature. This holding temperature affects the result of the calcined laterite nickel ore product. In this literature review, an analysis of the effect of holding temperature was carried out on the phase transformation process and the acquisition of Ni content. This literature review is expected to provide an overview of the results of the analysis of the effect of resistant temperature in the calcination process of laterite nickel ore and to provide recommendations for holding temperature used to optimize performance in the ferronickel industry. From this review, the optimal holding temperature is obtained at 1000⁰C with Ni level of 2.27%. Initial temperature began to occur at the phase transformation of laterite nickel ore for Fe around 275⁰C and for Ni around 500⁰C. The transformation of goethite into hematite between 300⁰C-350⁰C. The transformation of hematite into magnetite between 850⁰C-1000⁰C. In this review, a holding temperature at 1000⁰C is more optimal because of the complex phase transformation and obtaining a higher Ni level.
