Abstract

Proses solidifikasi/stabilisasi (S/S) merupakan salah satu
alternatif pengolahan limbah B-3, terutama limbah mengandung
logam berat. Proses S/S pada umumnya menggunakan semen
sebagai agen solidifikasi. Penambahan pozzolan alam dapat
mengurangi penggunaan semen guna menekan biaya pengolahan.
Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS).
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan komposisi semen:bentonit
50:50 dapat dipertimbangkan sebagai komposisi optimum untuk
proses S/S lumpur mengandung logam berat.
bentonit masing masing sebesar 591 ton/m2

Solidification/stabilization (S/S) process is an alternative
of hazardous waste treatment options, particularly for waste
containing heavy metals. Generally, S/S process uses cement as a
solidification agent. Addition of natural pozzolanic materials can
reduce the use of cement, and thus reduce the treatment cost. The
objectives of this research are (1) to determine the optimum
composition of cement and bentonite in the S/S process of waste
containing copper, and (2) to determine the effect oily sludge
addition to the S/S product quality.
Waste containing copper was molded with portland
cement type I and bentonite in cubes of 5 x 5 x 5 cm dimensions.
Composition variations of cement and bentonite were of 100:0,
75:25, 50:50, 25:75, 0:100 ratios. Composition variations of
cement and bentonite : oily sludge were of 85:15, 70:30, 55:45,
40:60 ratios. The S/S product qualities were examined using
compressive strength tests and Toxicity Characteristic Leaching
Procedure (TCLP) tests. Copper concentrations in TCLP test
results were measured using the Atomic Absorption
Spectroscopy method.
The results showed that cement: bentonite ratio of 50: 50
could be considered as the optimum composition for the S/S
process. Results of the compressive strength and TCLP values
were at 591 ton/m2

and 0,12 mg/L respectively. These values

meet the quality standards, where the minimum compressive
strength of S/S product is 10 ton/m2

, and the maximum copper
concentration in TCLP test results is 10 mg/L. Addition of the
oily sludge in cement and bentonite mixture lowered the
compressive strength value in higher concentrations. However,
addition of the oily sludge did not affect the TCLP test results
significantly.
