Abstract

Nikel dalam bentuk NiSO4.6H20 merupakan material bahan untuk baterai dari mobil listrik (electric vehicle). Pada penelitian ini NiSO4.6H20 didapatkan melalui leaching menggunakan asam sulfat (H2SO4) dan asam peroksida (H2O2). Kemudian proses netralisasi dilakukan dengan menggunakan larutan NaOH dengan menggunakan metode titrasi. Setelah netralisasi akan dilakukan proses kristalisasi. Uji karakterisasi dilakukan pada sampel ferronickel menggunakan pengujian Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX) kemudian Komposisi dari filtrat dianalisis menggunakan metode pengujian Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) dan pada produk akhir kristal dilakukan pengujian EDX dan X-ray Diffractometer (XRD). Pada proses netralisasi dihasilkan garam sodium sulfat (Na2SO4) sehingga diperlukan perlakuan untuk mengurangi komposisi garam sodium sulfat. Pada penelitian ini, variasi temperatur pemberntukan garam Na2SO4 yang digunakan adalah 7oC, 3oC, -10oC, dan Beku. Pembentukan kristal garam Na2SO4 paling optimal adalah pada sampel 2 (3oC) dengan kandungan Na sebesar 17.100 PPM. Nilai recovery Ni terbaik didapatkan pada sampel 3 (-10oC) sebesar 91,5% dan grade terbaik pada sampel 3 sebesar 13,7%. Senyawa NiSO4.6H20 ditemukan pada seluruh produk kristal setelah melalui proses kristalisasi pada temperatur 70oC.

Nickel in the form of NiSO4.6H20 is main material for NMC battery for electric vehicles. In this study NiSO4.6H20 was obtained through leaching of ferronickel using sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and peroxide acid (H2O2). Then the neutralization process is carried out using NaOH solution using titration method. The next step after neutralization process is the crystallization process. Characterization tests were conducted on ferronickel samples using Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX) testing. The composition of the leachant and neutralization filtrate was analyzed using the Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) testing method. The crystal product were characterize using EDX and X-ray Diffractometer (XRD) testing. Sodium sulfate salts (Na2SO4) was produce in huge amount, so that treatment is needed to reduce the composition of sodium sulfate salts. In this study, the temperature variation to form Na2SO4 salts crystals was 7oC, 3oC, -10oC, and Frozen. The most optimal formation of Na2SO4 salt crystals is in sample 2 (3oC) with a Na content of 17,100 PPM. The best Ni recovery value was obtained in sample 3 (-10oC) of 91.5% and the best grade in sample 3 was 13,7%. The compound NiSO4.6H20 is found in all crystalline products after going through the crystallization process at 70oC.
