Abstract

Gliserol Monostearat (GMS) merupakan salah satu jenis surfaktan yang banyak diaplikasikan dalam industri kue. Banyaknya kebutuhan gliserol monostearate di Indonesia tidak didukung dengan pasokan gliserol monostearat yang mencukupi sehingga harus mengimpor seluruh kebutuhan dalam jumlah besar. Dari data Badan Pusat Statistik Indonesia, diketahui data impor GMS untuk Indonesia dari tahun 2015 hingga 2019 mengalami peningkatan sebesar 0,032%/ tahun, dimana pada tahun 2019 jumlah impor GMS sebesar 5.966.300 kg. Proses pembuatan gliserol monostearat atau GMS dibagi menjadi empat tahapan proses utama di antaranya tahap reaksi, tahap solidifikasi, tahap pemisahan, dan tahap pendinginan dan packaging. Pabrik direncanakan beroperasi secara batch 24 jam selama 365 hari per tahun dengan kapasitas produksi 10.000 ton/tahun dengan kebutuhan bahan baku utama berupa asam stearat sebanyak 11.009 ton/tahun dan gliserol sebanyak 3736 ton/tahun. Asam stearat yang digunakan memiliki kemurnian 95%, sedangkan gliserol memiliki kemurnian 99,7%. Keduanya diproduksi oleh PT Smart Tbk yang berada di Kotabaru Kalimantan Selatan, yang memiliki kapasitas produksi 450.000 ton/tahun. Sedangkan untuk bahan baku pendukung menggunakan H3PO4 sebagai katalis, dan NaOH sebagai penetral produk. H3PO4 yang digunakan memiliki kemurnian sebesar 85%, sedangkan NaOH yang digunakan memiliki kemurnian sebesar 48%. H3PO4 yang digunakan sebanyak 297 ton/tahun, sedangkan NaOH yang digunakan sebanyak 542 ton/tahun. H3PO4 yang digunakan diproduksi oleh PT Pupuk Kaltim, sedangkan NaOH yang digunakan diproduksi oleh PT. Asahimas Chemical yang berada di Cilegon, Banten. Pabrik direncanakan didirikan di daerah Bontang, Kalimantan Timur, tepatnya pada Kaltim Industrial Estate, pada tahun 2023. Sumber dana investasi berasal dari modal sendiri sebesar 40% biaya investasi dan pinjaman sebesar 60% biaya investasi dengan bunga sebesar 9,8 % per tahun. Berdasarkan perhitungan analisa ekonomi, diperoleh biaya investasi total / Total Cost Investment sebesar Rp 166.703.720.678,27 dan total biaya produksi (TPC) sebesar Rp 800.634.057.187,57; laju pengembalian modal / Internal Rate of Return (IRR) sebesar 17,47 %, laju inflasi sebesar 1,55 % per tahun, waktu pengembalian modal / Pay Out Time (POT) sebesar 4,47 tahun; titik impas / Break Even Point (BEP) sebesar 63,04 %; dan period of construction selama 24 bulan. Berdasarkan analisa BEP, POT, dan IRR, pabrik Gliserol Monostearat ini layak untuk didirikan.

Glycerol Monostearate (GMS) is one type of surfactant that is widely applied in the baking industry. The large demand for glycerol monostearate in Indonesia is not supported by an adequate supply of glycerol monostearate, so it must import all of its needs in large quantities. From data from the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency, it is known that GMS import data for Indonesia from 2015 to 2019 increased by 0.032% / year, where in 2019 the number of GMS imports was 5,966,300 kg. The process of making glycerol monostearate or GMS is divided into four main process stages including the reaction stage, solidification stage, separation stage, and cooling and packaging stages. The plant is planned to operate in batches 24 hours for 365 days per year with a production capacity of 10,000 tons/year with the main raw material needs in the form of stearic acid as much as 11,009 tons/year and glycerol as much as 3736 tons/year. The stearic acid used has a purity of 95%, while the glycerol has a purity of 99.7%. Both are produced by PT Smart Tbk located in Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, which has a production capacity of 450,000 tons/year. As for the supporting raw materials using H3PO4 as a catalyst, and NaOH as a product neutralizer. The H3PO4 used has a purity of 85%, while the NaOH used has a purity of 48%. The H3PO4 used was 297 tons/year, while the NaOH used was 542 tons/year. The H3PO4 used was produced by PT Pupuk Kaltim, while the NaOH used was produced by PT. Asahimas Chemical located in Cilegon, Banten. The factory is planned to be established in the Bontang area, East Kalimantan, precisely at the Kaltim Industrial Estate, in 2023. The source of investment funds comes from own capital with 40% of investment costs and loans of 60% investment costs with interest of 9.8% per year. Based on the calculation of the economic analysis, the total investment cost / Total Cost Investment is Rp. 166.703.720.678.27 and the total production cost (TPC) is Rp. 800,634,057,187.57; the rate of return on capital / Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 17.47 %, inflation rate of 1.55% per year, payback time / Pay Out Time (POT) of 4.47 years; break even point (BEP) of 63.04 %; and period of construction for 24 months. Based on BEP, POT, and IRR analysis, this Glycerol Monostearate plant is feasible to build.
