Abstract

In 2020, the world economy is reeling from the Covid-19 pandemic. This caused domestic industrial electricity consumption to decrease due to many factories having to reduce production volumes to close the company. Data from PT PLN, as a state-owned enterprise (SOE) engaged in the provision of electricity, said that there was a slowdown in electricity sales growth in the first quarter of 2020. In the first quarter of 2020, electricity sales grew 4.61% compared to the same period in the previous year. However, industrial electricity consumption actually fell by a greater rate (7.18%). Reduced electricity consumption, resulting in the demand for coal as the main fuel of power plants fell. This condition ultimately reduces the volume of coal transported by a shipping company, and can be a threat to the company, because the company's revenue or profit periodically continues to decline. To overcome these conditions, shipping companies make various efforts aimed at reducing the operational costs of ships. Efforts that have been made are not enough to cover the company's losses so that more effective effort planning is needed. This research aims to analyze the resilience or survivability of shipping companies affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic. The analysis was conducted using the Altman Z-Scoring method as an assessment of bankruptcy rates and Shutdown Point Theory, as one theory to determine strategies that can be applied by the company so that it can survive.
