Abstract

Nonparametric regression is a regression approach that can be used when the form of the relationship pattern between the response variable and the predictor variable is unknown. Recently, researchers have assumed that each predictor variable in nonparametric regression has the same data pattern by using one form of the estimator for all predictor variables. However, in reality, the relationship between each predictor variable and the response variable has different data patterns. When used only form of an estimator to estimate each predictor variable, it will produce estimates that do not set with data patterns. Therefore, it requires a mixed estimator to get the better nonparametric regression estimation which is set with data patterns. In this study will develop a model with a mixed truncated spline, kernel, and Fourier series estimator for nonparametric regression estimation, where the pattern of the relationship between the response variable and the predictor variable partially changes in certain sub-intervals, some does not have a certain pattern, and some others have a repeating pattern. It was applied to longitudinal data that observations from the same subject over several time periods. This study aims to obtain the estimator results of a mixture of the truncated spline, kernel, and Fourier series in nonparametric regression on longitudinal data, and modeling data on the percentage of poor people in Indonesia from 2015-2020. The estimation method used is Weighted Least Square (WLS), and the method used in the selection of optimal knot points, bandwidth, and oscillation parameters is the Generalized Cross Validation (GCV) method. The best model for data on the percentage of poor people in 34 provinces in Indonesia from 2015-2020 was a mixed estimator nonparametric regression model of truncated spline, kernel, and Fourier series with one knot point and one oscillation. The result of GCV value is 0.25.
