Abstract

================================================================================================
Indonesia is one of the countries with high tectonic
activity. Especially in Java Island, which is affected by the tectonic
plate boundary of Sunda Block that forms a subduction zone in the
southern Java margin. As a result of the subduction process,
several faults were formed along Java Island. One of the faults that
are formed stretches from Central Java to the Madura Strait,
namely the Kendeng Fault. The Kendeng Fault consists of several
segments, namely the Cepu, Blumbang, Surabaya, and Waru
segments. With the existence of these 4 segments, the area
traversed by the Kendeng Fault is prone to earthquakes. Therefore
to reduce the risk, it is necessary to monitor Kendeng Faults
activity through deformation studies using continuous GNSS
observation. Deformation analysis used observation data of
Continuously Operating Reference Station Geospatial Information
Agency (CORS BIG) and periodic observations of 23 points on the
Kendeng Fault segment belonging to BIG in 2016-2020. After that,
the carrier-phase data of GPS is processed to obtain the consistent
velocity field in the ITRF2014. Velocity vectors are estimated then
reduced by the Euler Sunda block rotation parameter to obtain
local movements influenced by the Kendeng Fault.
This study shows that the horizontal displacement of
GAMIT/GLOBK processing is in the range of 18 mm/year to 41
mm/year with the dominant direction to the southeast. The
displacement velocity that has been reduced with the Sunda block
is between 0.08 mm/ year to 21.13 mm/year. The result of vertical
displacement has a pattern where subsidence occurs in the north
of the fault while the south tends to experience an uplift. The strain
calculations for the principal strain values along the fault area of
less than 1 microstrain/ year with a dominant compression pattern.
There is a potential strike-slip fault mechanism in the western
segment of the Kendeng Fault with a value above 0.5 strain. Our
result is similar to the previous result which showed that the
Kendeng Fault has a left lateral slip fault character with a higher
slip rate in the western segment.
