Abstract

Indonesia merupakan negara dengan tingkat kerawanan yang tinggi terhadap risiko kejadian bencana. Dalam kurun waktu lima tahun terakhir, sepanjang 2017 hingga 2021, kejadian bencana di Indonesia didominasi oleh bencana banjir di antara jenis bencana lainnya. Untuk menghindari dampak risiko bencana tersebut setiap elemen masyarakat berkewajiban untuk terlibat dalam upaya manajemen bencana. Tahapan awal dari manajemen bencana adalah mitigasi bencana yang perlu untuk dikenalkan kepada masyarakat melalui sosialisasi dan edukasi yang bertujuan membangun perilaku sadar bencana dan melatih keterampilan mitigasi bencana secara dini. Namun, edukasi kebencanaan justru terhambat salah satunya karena ketersediaan materi ajar yang masih terbatas. Dari berbagai media yang telah diterapkan, board game dinilai dapat mengenalkan konsep kebencanaan yang kompleks dengan dikemas menjadi permainan dengan nilai edukasi melalui pendekatan gamifikasi yang dapat meningkatkan motivasi dalam mempelajari wawasan kebencanaan. Perancangan ini disusun dengan tujuan untuk membuat sebuah media pengenalan mitigasi bencana banjir melalui board game dengan nilai edukasi kepada remaja. Metode riset yang digunakan dalam perancangan ini dilakukan melalui pengumpulan data kuantitatif dengan questionaire hasil desain dan post-test kepada target pengguna serta pengumpulan data kualitatif yang diperoleh melalui literature reviews, existing study, depth interview, penyusunan alur bermain dengan scenario description swimlane, studi mekanik yang digunakan dengan mechanic & gameplay study, dan konsep board game dengan concept mapping untuk dirancang menjadi purwarupa untuk diuji cobakan melalui user testing. Hasil akhir dari perancangan ini adalah board game berjudul MitiGo dengan sistem yang mengharuskan pemain bekerja sama untuk mencegah risiko bencana banjir dengan memenuhi objektif permainan menggunakan mekanik permainan berupa completing targets, set collection, worker placement, dan card draw limit & deck exhaustion. Board game MitiGo memiliki waktu bermain antara 30 hingga 45 menit untuk 2 hingga 4 pemain. Set board game ini terdiri dalam satu box kemasan yang berisi komponen berupa papan permainan, kartu, pion, dadu, dan rulebook. Perancangan board game MitiGo dapat meningkatkan kesadaran akan risiko bencana banjir dengan meningkatkan antusiasme dan mendorong keterlibatan pelajar dalam proses pembelajaran mitigasi bencana banjir.

Indonesia is a country with a high level of vulnerability to the risks of disaster events. In the last five years, from 2017 to 2021, disaster events in Indonesia have been dominated by floods amidst other types of disasters. With the intention to prevent the impact of a disaster event, every part of society should be involved in disaster management. The initial stage of disaster management is disaster mitigation which needs to introduce to the public through socialization and education aimed at building disaster awareness behavior and practicing disaster mitigation skills. However, the need for disaster education is hampered due to the limited availability of teaching materials. From the various existing media that exist, board games are considered capable to introduce complex disaster concepts by compacting them into games with educational value through a gamification approach that can increase motivation in disaster understanding. The design aimed to create an introduction media to flood disaster mitigation through board games with educational value for teenagers. The research method used in this design conducted through collecting quantitative data with a design questionnaire and post-test to target users as well as gathering qualitative data obtained through literature reviews, existing studies, in-depth interviews, preparation of play flow with scenario description swimlanes, mechanical studies that used with mechanics & gameplay studies, and board game concepts with concept mapping to be designed into prototypes to test with the targets through user testing. The result of this research is a board game called MitiGo with a system that requires players to work together to prevent the risk of a flood disaster by fulfilling game objectives using game mechanics in the form of completing targets, set collection, worker placement, and card draw limit & deck exhaustion. The MitiGo board game has 30 to 45 minutes of gameplay by 2 to 4 players. This board game set consists of a packaging box containing components of game boards, cards, pawns, dice, and rulebooks. The design of the MitiGo board game can increase awareness of the risk of flood disasters by increasing enthusiasm and encouraging student involvement in the learning process of flood disaster mitigation.
