Abstract

This paper outlined the tasks, developments, and outcomes of the internship at the Marketing & Sales Department of DAF Trucks N.V. The graduation internship project was carried out by Annelies Nafisa Widi, an ICT Business student at the Fontys University of Applied Science, as my capstone assignment for completing her bachelor's degree. The assignment was to solve Marketing Program Manager’s issue with their weekly reporting process. The current process was done manually in a flat Excel file, which could only be accessed on Mondays every week. Additionally, the data was somehow not clean enough to meet the business needs. To overcome this problem, the managers assigned me to solve the current bottleneck within the department. The goal of the project was to provide the managers with an interactive dashboard that could address all the business needs and meet the requirements. The project management method used was the waterfall method, which was divided into five milestones based on the research questions. The DOT Framework was also utilized to align each research question with its specific output, ensuring everything stayed on track as desired. The Research Questions answered each problem not sequentially. The first step of the process involved defining the information to be displayed on the dashboard. This was achieved by conducting interviews with several stakeholders who had experience with the current weekly report and by analyzing relevant documents. Although there were some obstacles during the data definition phase, the necessary information was eventually obtained. Once the information was defined, the next step was to determine the most suitable tool for implementing the project. A tool research document was prepared, and a feature comparison methodology was used to evaluate different options. After careful consideration, a final decision was reached. The subsequent objective was to create the optimal data model for the dashboard. Although there were some challenges along the way, the final data model was successfully developed through multiple interviews with the relevant stakeholders. Once the data model and requirements were finalized, the dashboard creation process began. Due to dynamic changes in the business requirements, the prototype was iteratively developed several times to ensure it truly met the stakeholders' needs. The final step involved uploading the completed dashboard to the Tableau Server with the assistance of a data analyst.
