Abstract
Biofouling merupakan akumulasi materi biologis (biofouler) yang tidak diinginkan pada permukaan yang terendam di lingkungan perairan. Penelitian dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengetahui spesies biofouler, luas penutupan dan biomassa biofouler yang menempel pada substrat plat baja dengan dan tanpa perlakuan cat antifouling pada periode waktu perendaman 3 dan 6 bulan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan mengecat plat baja kemudian dilakukan perendaman pada kedalaman 3 meter dari atas permukaan laut, di perairan pada pilar-54 jembatan Suramadu. Setelah masa perendaman, dilakukan juga pengukuran parameter lingkungan meliputi suhu, kecerahan, salinitas, pH, oksigen terlarut dan kecepatan arus. Setelah pengangkatan dilakukan identifikasi spesies, perhitungan luas penutupan dan biomassa biofouler pada plat uji. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ditemukan total 14 spesies biofouler meliputi Amphibalanus reticulatus, Amphibalanus amphithrite, Megabalanus sp. Tubularia sp., Bugula sp., Didemnum sp., Botrylloides sp., Ciona sp., Melita sp., Photis sp., Spirorbis sp., Hydroides sp., Chicoreus sp. dan Membranipora membranacea. Hasil perhitungan luas penutupan pada periode perendaman 3 bulan, dihasilkan pada plat baja dengan cat antifouling sebesar 7,52% dan pada plat baja tanpa cat antifouling sebesar 15,55%. Pada periode perendaman 6 bulan, dihasilkan luas penutupan pada plat baja dengan cat antifouling sebesar 28,69% dan pada plat baja tanpa cat antifouling sebesar 71,68%. Perhitungan biomassa biofouler menunjukkan pada periode perendaman 3 bulan, pada plat baja dengan cat antifouling sebesar 3,49 gram dan pada plat baja tanpa cat antifouling sebesar 1,90 gram. Pada periode perendaman 6 bulan, dihasilkan biomassa pada plat baja dengan cat antifouling sebesar 2,78 gram dan pada plat baja tanpa cat antifouling sebesar 30,02 gram.

Biofouling is the accumulation of unwanted biological material (biofouler) on submerged surfaces in aquatic environments. This study aimed to determine the biofouler species, coverage area and biomass of biofouler attached to the ship's steel plate substrate with and without antifouling paint treatment in 3 and 6 month immersion periods. The research involved by painting the ship's steel plate and then immersing it at a depth of 3 meters in the waters on the 54th pillar of the Suramadu bridge. After the immersion period, environmental parameters were also measured including temperature, brightness, salinity, pH, dissolved oxygen and current speed. After retrieval, species identification and quantification of biofouling coverage and biomass were conducted. The results showed total of 14 biofouler species were found including Amphibalanus reticulatus, Amphibalanus amphithrite, Megabalanus sp. Tubularia sp., Bugula sp., Didemnum sp., Botrylloides sp., Ciona sp., Melita sp., Photis sp., Spirorbis sp., Hydroides sp., Chicoreus sp. and Membranipora membranacea. Biofouler coverage during 3 month immersion period resulted 7,52% in steel plates with antifouling paint and 15,55% in steel plates without antifouling paint. During 6 month immersion period resulted 28,69% in steel plates with antifouling paint and 71,68% in steel plates without antifouling paint. Biofouler biomass during 3 month immersion period resulted 3,49 gram in steel plates with antifouling paint and 1,90 gram in steel plates without antifouling paint. During 6 month immersion period resulted 2,78 gram in steel plates with antifouling paint and 30,02 gram in steel plates without antifouling paint.
