Abstract
Limbah tandan kosong sawit (TKS) sebagai bahan pupuk kompos maupun sebagai bahan serat perlu melalui proses penguraian dan pencacahan untuk mempermudah proses pengolahan. Mesin pencacah tandan kosong sawit (TKS), sekarang sudah dikembangkan di berbagai wilayah dengan menggunakan berbagai macam jenis transmisi, penggerak, dan model yang juga beragam. Perancangan mesin pencacah tandan kosong sawit (TKS) juga semakin beragam seiring dengan bertambah banyak permintaan pasar akan produk-produk olahan tandan kosong sawit (TKS). Berdasarkan kondisi tersebut, maka diperlukan sistem transmisi yang sesuai untuk meringankan beban kerja mesin, meningkatkan hasil produksi, dan menghemat biaya produksi. Perancangan dan perhitungan sistem transmisi akan berpengaruh terhadap pemilihan komponen pada sistem transmisi mesin pencacah tandan kosong sawit (TKS). Bagian utama mesin lainnya terdiri dari rangka utama, hopper, mata pisau, poros penggerak dan outlet keluaran bahan. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan mesin pencacah tandan kosong kelapa sawit dengan total kapasitas mampu mencapai 100 Kg/Jam. Mesin tersebut digerakkan oleh motor listrik berdaya 4 kW dan kecepatan putaran 1440 rpm, yang ditransmisikan menggunakan sistem transmisi pulley dan belt open drive. Daya dari mesin tersebut ditransmisikan ke bagian pemotong untuk mencacah tandan kosong kelapa sawit. Dari hasil uji coba tersebut didapatkan hasil proses pencacahan berupa serat serabut halus dari tandan kosong kelapa sawit yang sesuai permintaan mitra dan sudah layak untuk selanjutnya diproses menjadi pupuk organik. Diharapkan dengan adanya Mesin Pencacah Tandan Kosong Kelapa Sawit ini mampu menunjang proses pembuatan pupuk kompos berkualitas, serta mampu mengatasi masalah terkait kebutuhan pupuk organik dan peningkatan jumlah limbah dari proses pengolahan kelapa sawit.

The waste of empty palm fruit bunches (EFB) as compost material and as fiber material needs to go through a decomposition and chopping process to simplify the processing process. The empty palm fruit bunches (EFB) chopping machine has now been developed in various regions using various types of transmission, propulsion, and also various models. The design of empty palm fruit bunches (EFB) chopping machines is also increasingly diverse in line with the increasing market demand for processed products from empty palm fruit bunches (EFB). Based on these conditions, an appropriate transmission system is needed to lighten the workload of the machine, increase production yields, and save production costs. The design and calculation of the transmission system will affect the selection of components in the transmission system of the empty palm fruit bunches (EFB) chopping machine. Other main parts of the machine consist of main frame, hopper, blade, drive shaft and material output outlet. From the results of the study, it was found that the empty palm fruit bunches chopping machine with a total capacity of 100 kg/hour was tested. The machine is driven by an electric motor with a power of 4 kW and a rotational speed of 1440 rpm, which is transmitted using a pulley and belt open drive transmission system. The power from the machine is transmitted to the cutting section to chop the empty palm fruit bunches. From the trial results, it was found that the results of the chopping process were in the form of fine fibers from empty palm oil bunches as like partner request which are feasible for further processing into fertilizer organic. It is hoped that the existence of this Palm Empty Fruit Bunch Counter Machine will be able to support the process of making quality compost, and be able to overcome problems related to the need for organic fertilizer and increase the amount of waste from the palm oil processing process.
