Abstract

The State of Indonesia is an archipelagic country that has various kinds of abundant natural or man-made resources. One of them is beach sand, Indonesia has very abundant beach sand which still cannot be utilized optimally. In addition, now humans are less concerned with cleanliness. You can easily find scattered plastic waste, cleanliness data always finds plastic type waste because it is disposable and has a thin and elastic physique. This problem makes beach sand and plastic a material innovation in asphalt mixtures to seek better quality. In a study using beach sand as fine aggregate, the use of beach sand was 100% retained by filter No. 16 to wet pan and substitution of LDPE (Low Density Poly Ethylene) plastic in 60/70 penetration bitumen. Marshall test results, three parameters decreased in the modified asphalt mixture compared to conventional asphalt mixtures. The MQ value decreased by 0.8% for the fine aggregate variation of Probolinggo and Malang beach sand. The VFA value decreased by 0.96% for the fine aggregate variation of Malang beach sand and 0.89% for the fine aggregate variation for Probolinggo beach sand. The VMA value decreased by 1% for the fine aggregate variation of Probolinggo beach sand. The Stability value increased by 1% in the fine aggregate variation of Malang and Probolinggo beach sand. The Flow value increased 1.2% for the fine aggregate variation of Malang beach sand and 1.1% for the fine aggregate variation for Probolinggo beach sand. The VIM value increased by 1.1% in the fine aggregate asphalt mixture of Malang beach sand and 1% in the fine aggregate asphalt mixture of Probolinggo beach sand. The VMA value increased by 1.03% in the Malang beach sand fine aggregate asphalt mixture. Density values increased by 1% in the fine aggregate asphalt mixture of Probolinggo beach sand.
