Abstract

Economic inequality in Indonesia has increased over the past two decades. West Java Province is one of the provinces in Indonesia located on Java Island and is also inseparable from the problem of economic inequality. West Java Province in 2022 has a Gini ratio value of 0.417. This figure is included in the category of moderate-income inequality, which means that the difference between high-income groups and low-income groups is quite unequal. Therefore, a study was conducted on the factors that influence the Gini ratio to increase economic development to reduce the inequality that occurs in West Java Province using Spline Truncated Nonparametric Regression because the data pattern of the factors that are thought to influence the Gini ratio does not follow a certain pattern. There are pattern changes at certain sub-intervals. The variables used are Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), Labor Force Participation Rate, Human Development Index (HDI), percentage of poor people, and Health Index. The results showed that the best model for choosing the optimum knot point was using three-knot points and all the variables used in this study had a significant effect on the Gini ratio in West Java Province with a coefficient of determination of this model of 99.65%.
