Abstract

Batik from Madura Island has basic patterns of animal and plant shapes with bold colors. Madura batik itself has bright and bold characteristics. Madura Batik is also famous for its strong character. This written batik has also penetrated the export market. Unfortunately, millennials in the city of Surabaya are not yet familiar with and interested in using Madurese batik as their daily fashion style. This is because Madurese batik itself has motifs that tend to be used by the older generation and has not undergone much regeneration. The development of the fashion world is experiencing rapid progress which has the potential to contribute to significant pre-production waste, namely in the form of fabric scraps. Currently the fashion industry is the second largest waste producing industry in the world after oil. Currently, fashion industry players are looking for ways to overcome this, one method that is considered effective is the zero waste technique. Zero Waste is a technique for making clothes with effective pattern placement, and it is hoped that it will not produce a lot of pre-production waste. The aim of this research is to find a zero waste pattern for Madurese batik design so that it can introduce Madura batik to millennials in Surabaya and its surroundings, and can be regenerated.
