Abstract

Menurut Pallasmaa dalam an Architecture of Seven Senses, sebuah arsitektur harus menekankan pentingnya sebuah pengalaman sensoris. Pallasmaa memberikan kritik tentang arsitektur di masa kini hanya mengandalkan keindahan visual semata, tetapi tidak menghubungkannya dengan indera-indera sensoris lain seperti penciuman, pendengaran, dan sentuhan. Dengan adanya pengalaman sensoris tersebut, terdapat interaksi antara manusia dengan karya arsitektur yang dapat mengaktifkan seluruh indra dan pengalaman sensoris manusia. Dalam Tugas Akhir perancangan taman kanak kanak dan fasilitas edukasi dengan fokus pengguna anak dengan kebutuhan autisme, diperlukan pendekatan multisensori yang dapat mengakomodir kebutuhan pengguna. Pendekatan ini diharapkan dapat tercapainya sebuah “Independence” atau kemandirian pada pengguna sebelum nantinya mereka melanjutkan pendidikan ke sekolah umum.

According to Pallasmaa in an Architecture of Seven Senses, architecture must emphasize the importance of sensory experience. Pallasmaa provides criticism about architecture today which only relies on visual beauty, but does not connect it with other sensory senses such as smell, hearing and touch. With this sensory experience, there is interaction between humans and architectural works that can activate all human senses and sensory experiences. In the final project of designing kindergartens and educational facilities with a focus on children with autism needs, a multisensory approach is needed that can accommodate user needs. It is hoped that this approach can achieve "Independence" for users before they continue their education at public schools.
