Abstract
Metal 3D printing was considered expensive due to the high investment cost of the equipment (Powder bed technologies), as an approach to the FDM 3D printing process with fused metal filament at a lower cost, the metal used is 316L stainless steel. This post treatment consists of 3 stages, namely (1) solvent debinding, (2) thermal debinding and (3) sintering, the thermal debinding and sintering stages are determined by the solvent debinding stage, in this research will be investigated related to variables in the first process (solvent debinding) to study its effect on the final result, In this study will use a specimen with a cylindrical shape with a diameter of 25 mm and a height of 5 mm, the specimen is 3D printed using the fused deposition modelling method with 316L stainless steel filament from the BASF brand, then the specimen will be given 9 different solvent debinding treatments and 1 treatment where this specimen does not pass solvent debinding. The variations are (1) Acetone 1 hour, (2) Acetone 3-hour, (3) Acetone 6 hour. (4) HNO3 2.8% 6-hour, (5) HNO3 5.6% 6-hour, (6) HNO3 8.4% 6-hour, (7) Acetone 1 hour + HNO3 2.8% 6-hour, (8) Acetone 1 hour + HNO3 5.6% 6-hour, (9) Acetone 1 hour + HNO3 8.4% 6 hour, and (10) without solvent debinding treatment. Then only 4 specimens that have the best solvent debinding results are specimens (7) Acetone 1 hour + HNO3 2.8% 6-hour, (8) Acetone 1 hour + HNO3 5.6% 6-hour, (9) Acetone 1 hour + HNO3 8.4% 6 hour, and (10) without solvent debinding treatment to proceed to the next, thermal debinding and sintering stages are not varied. With a maximum temperature of 1300 degrees Celsius in a non-controlled atmosphere muffle furnace, then data on porosity, weight loss, Brinell hardness, density, and shrinkage were taken to see the phenomenon and data to analyse the effect of solvent debinding on the specimen. The results showed that acetone followed by nitric acid solvent debinding produced better properties in terms of weight loss as acetone or nitric acid alone. Higher concentration of nitric acid resulted in faster reaction and thus more weight loss was seen. The sintered sections analyzed with solvent debinding treatment gave a smaller percentage of porosity, higher Brinell Hardness values, and density compared to specimens without solvent debinding treatment. The shrinkage in the specimens with solvent debinding treatment had a larger amount than the specimens without solvent debinding treatment.

Metal 3D Printing dianggap mahal karena tingginya biaya investasi pada peralatannya (powder bed technologies), sebagai pendekatan dilakukan proses Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) 3D printing dengan fused metal filament dengan biaya yang lebih murah, metal yang digunakan adalah stainless steel 316L. Pada proses ini dibutuhkan post treatment untuk memperoleh hasil yang diharapkan. post treatment ini terdiri dari 3 tahap yaitu ada (1) solvent debinding, (2) thermal debinding dan (3) sintering. Pada penelitian ini akan diteliti terkait variable pada proses pertama (solvent debinding) untuk mempelajari pengaruhnya terhadap hasil akhir, Pada penelitian ini akan menggunakan specimen dengan bentuk silinder dengan diameter 25 mm dan tinggi 5 mm, spesimen di 3D print dengan filament stainless steel 316L dari merk BASF, lalu spesimen akan diberikan 9 treatment solvent debinding yang berbeda dan 1 treatment dimana spesimen ini tidak melewati solvent debinding. Variasi nya adalah (1) Acetone 1 hour, (2) Acetone 3-hour, (3) Acetone 6 hour. (4) HNO_3 2,8% 6-hour, (5) HNO_3 5,6% 6 hour, (6) HNO_3 8,4% 6 hour, (7) Acetone 1 hour+ HNO_3 2,8% 6 hour, (8) Acetone 1 hour+ HNO_3 5,6% 6 hour,(9) Acetone 1 hour+ HNO_3 8,4% 6 hour, dan (10) tanpa treatment solvent debinding. Lalu hanya 4 spesimen yang memiliki hasil solvent debinding paling baik yaitu specimen (7) Acetone 1 hour+ HNO_3 2,8% 6 hour, (8) Acetone 1 hour+ HNO_3 5,6% 6 hour,(9) Acetone 1 hour+ HNO_3 8,4% 6 hour, dan (10) tanpa treatment solvent debinding untuk dilanjutkan ke selanjutnya, tahap thermal debinding dan sintering tidak di variasikan. Dengan suhu maksimal 1300 derajat Celcius pada muffle furnace non controlled atmosphere, lalu pengambilan data porosity, weight loss, Brinell hardness, density, dan shrinkage diambil untuk melihat fenomena dan data untuk dianalisa pengaruh solvent debinding pada specimen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aseton diikuti dengan debinding pelarut asam nitrat menghasilkan sifat yang lebih baik dalam hal penurunan berat badan sebagai aseton atau asam nitrat saja. Konsentrasi asam nitrat yang lebih tinggi menghasilkan reaksi yang lebih cepat dan dengan demikian lebih banyak penurunan berat badan terlihat. Bagian sinter yang dianalisis dengan perlakuan debinding pelarut memberikan persentase porositas yang lebih kecil, nilai Kekerasan Brinell yang lebih tinggi, dan densitas dibandingkan dengan spesimen tanpa perlakuan debinding pelarut. Penyusutan pada spesimen dengan perlakuan debinding pelarut memiliki jumlah yang lebih besar daripada spesimen tanpa perlakuan debinding pelarut.
