Abstract
Kapal merupakan salah satu moda transportasi yang paling penting dalam mobilisasi barang dan manusia. Seiring perkembangan dan peningkatan teknologi kapal dalam mengangkut kargo maka ketergantungan terhadap kapal dan pentingnya kapal segai moda transportasi akan semakin meningkat. Namun peningkatan lalu lintas kapal juga berarti peningkatan konsumsi bahan bakar yang mana akan berdampak negatif kepada lingkungan karena gas-gas berbahaya yang dihasilkan dari pembakaran bahan bakar berbahan dasar karbon. Salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi konsumsi bahan bakar dari sebuah kapal adalah tahanan kapal, karena tahanan kapal mempengaruhi besar tenaga yang diperlukan untuk menggerakan kapal. Drag pada kulit lambung kapal sangat dipengaruhi oleh tingkat kekasaran permukaan lambung kapal. Salah satu factor yang mempengaruhi tingkat kekasaran permukaan lambung kapal adalah akibat adanya biofouling. Biofouling merupakan penumpukan organisme pada permukaan yang terendam air. Penumpukan biofouling pada lambung kapal mengakibatkan meningkatnya tingkat kekasaran lambung kapal yang berpengaruh terhadap drag kapal. Tugas akhir ini ditujukan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh biofouling terhadap besarnya koefisien drag pada pelat datar dengan menggunakan eksperimen towing tank test dimana hasilnya dapat diketahui seberapa besar peningkatan tahanan terhadap peningkatan roughness yang terjadi pada pelat datar sebagai acuan dalam pembangunan kapal. Dalam eksperimen ini digunakan variasi spesimen pelat datar dengan jumlah biofouling yang berbeda-beda untuk mengetahui pengaruhnya terhadap tahanan. Dari hasil eksperimen menggunakan towing tank test dengan tiga variasi biofouling coverage( 23%, 66%, 99%), kecepatan (0,5 m/s, 1 m/s, 1,5 m/s) ditemukan bahwa di setiap kecepatan semakin besar luas permukaan yang tertutup biofouling maka akan semakin besar juga nilai tahanan dan koefisien drag. Selain itu luas dari permukaan pelat yang tertutup biofouling yang semakin besar dan ketinggian biofouling jugameningkatkan nilai dari fungsi kekasaran permukaan pelat

Ships are one of the most important modes of transportation in the mobilization of goods and people. As ship technology develops and improves in transporting cargo, dependence on ships and the importance of ships as a mode of transportation will increase. However, increasing ship traffic also means increasing fuel consumption, which will have a negative impact to the environment due to harmful gases produced from burning carbon-based fuels. One of the factors that influences the fuel consumption of a ship is ship resistance, because ship resistance affects the amount of power needed to move the ship. The drag on the ship's hull skin is greatly influenced by the level of surface roughness of the ship's hull. One of the factors that influences the level of surface roughness of a ship's hull is the presence of biofouling. Biofouling is the accumulation of organisms on surfaces submerged in water. The buildup of biofouling on the ship's hull results in an increase in the roughness of the ship's hull which affects the ship's drag. This final project is aimed at finding out how much influence biofouling has on the drag coefficient on flat plates by using a towing tank test experiment where the results can be seen how much resistance increases to the increase in roughness that occurs on flat plates as a reference in ship construction. In this experiment, a variety of flat plate specimens with different amounts of biofouling were used to determine their effect on resistance. From the experimental results using a towing tank test with three variations of biofouling coverage (23%, 66%, 99%), speed (0.5 m/s, 1 m/s, 1.5 m/s) it was found that at each speed the The greater the surface area covered by biofouling, the greater the resistance value and drag coefficient. In addition, the larger the surface area of the plate covered with biofouling and the height of the biofouling also increases the value of the plate surface roughness function.
