Abstract

Perbankan memiliki peran strategis sebagai lembaga intermediasi keuangan yang menghimpun dan menyalurkan dana secara efektif dan efisien. Kinerja perbankan memiliki dampak signifikan dalam sektor keuangan Indonesia dan penting untuk mencapai sistem perbankan yang efisien dari segi profitabilitas dan marketabilitas. Profitabilitas dan marketabilitas merupakan dua konsep yang berbeda dalam dunia bisnis dan keuangan, tetapi keduanya saling terkait dan penting dalam menilai kinerja dan kesuksesan suatu perusahaan. Tingkat efisiensi perbankan secara umum dapat diukur menggunakan BOPO (Biaya Operasional dan Pendapatan Operasional). Sejak tahun 2020 hingga 2022 BOPO mengalami fluktuasi dan pada tahun 2022 mencapai nilai 78,70%, namun nilai tersebut masih dibawah standar berdasarkan peraturan bank Indonesia yaitu sebesar 80%. Kinerja yang baik pada industri perbankan sering dikaitkan dengan tingkat efisiensi yang tinggi. Sehingga diperlukan evaluasi kinerja bank berdasarkan profitabilitas dan marketabilitas dari perbankan di Indonesia menggunakan Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa sebaran signifikan dalam variabel input dan output, mencerminkan diversitas besar diantara bank-bank di Indonesia. Meskipun Bank Rakyat Indonesia memiliki nilai tertinggi dalam banyak kriteria variabel (kecuali earning per share) dan menunjukkan varians yang besar dalam performa antar bank menyoroti tantangan dan peluang untuk peningkatan efisiensi di sektor perbankan, earning per share menonjol sebagai variabel dengan varians yang lebih rendah, menunjukkan perbedaan yang lebih terbatas di antara bank pada variabel ini. Perbandingan efisiensi antara bank nasional dan bank asing, baik pada tahap profitabilitas, marketabilitas maupun keseluruhan menunjukkan bahwa bank nasional lebih efisien dari pada bank asing. Meskipun demikian, baik bank nasional maupun bank asing perlu meningkatkan efisiensi, terutama pada tahap marketabilitas. Oleh karena itu, peningkatan efisiensi di semua tahap, terutama dalam hal marketabilitas, menjadi langkah penting untuk meningkatkan kinerja perbankan di Indonesia.

Banking has a strategic role as a financial intermediation institution that collects and distributes funds effectively and efficiently. Banking performance has a significant impact on the Indonesian financial sector and is important for achieving an efficient banking system in terms of profitability and marketability. Profitability and marketability are two different concepts in the world of business and finance, but they are interrelated and important in assessing the performance and success of a company. The level of banking efficiency can generally be measured using BOPO (Operating Costs and Operating Income). From 2020 to 2022 BOPO experienced fluctuations and in 2022 reached a value of 78.70%, however this value was still below the standard based on Indonesian banking regulations, namely 80%. Good performance in the banking industry is often associated with a high level of efficiency. So it is necessary to evaluate bank performance based on profitability and marketability of banking in Indonesia using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The results show that there is a significant spread in input and output variables, reflecting the large diversity among banks in Indonesia. Although Bank Rakyat Indonesia has the highest scores in many variable criteria (except earnings per share) and shows large variance in inter-bank performance highlighting the challenges and opportunities for improving efficiency in the banking sector, earnings per share stands out as the variable with lower variance, indicating differences are more limited among banks on this variable. A comparison of efficiency between national banks and foreign banks, both at the profitability, marketability and overall levels, shows that national banks are more efficient than foreign banks. However, both national and foreign banks need to improve efficiency, especially at the marketability stage. Therefore, increasing efficiency at all stages, especially in terms of marketability, is an important step to improve banking performance in Indonesia.
