Abstract
Kompos mempunyai kapasitas tukar kation (KTK) yang berasal dari kandungan materi-materi humus di dalamnya. Logam berat Cu merupakan salah satu pencemar badan air yang berbahaya. Salah satu alternatif metode pengolahan air limbah adalah pertukaran ion. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kinerja kompos produksi UDPK Bratang sebagai media penukar ion untuk mereduksi Cu dalam air limbah buatan. Kompos yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kompos produksi UDPK Bratang (kompos Bratang) dengan ukuran lotos ayakan no. 40/60. Pengukuran KTK kompos secara teoritis dilakukan dengan metode Ammonium Replacement. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi awal (CJ dan pH larutan Cu terhadap efisiensi penyisihan Cu pada proses batch, dengan variasi Co larutan Cu; 5, 15, 25, 35, dan 45 mg/L dan variasi pH larutan Cu; 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, dan 10. Sistem batch dilakukan dengan menggunakan waktu pengadukan selama 120 menit, kecepatan pengadukan sebesar 80 rpm, dosis kompos sebesar 5 gi L. Kompos mempunyai KTK teoritis sebesar 56,607 meq/100 g. Pada proses batch didapatkan hasil optimum, yaitu konsentrasi awal larutan Cu sebesar 15 mg/L dan pH larutan Cu didapat pada pH sekitar 4. Pada kondisi tersebut, KTK media sebesar 7,889 meq/ 100 g

Compost has a cation exchange capacity (CEC) which comes from the humus content in it. The heavy metal Cu is a dangerous water body pollutant. One alternative wastewater treatment method is ion exchange. This research aims to examine the performance of UDPK Bratang compost as an ion exchange medium for reducing Cu in artificial wastewater. The compost used in this research is compost produced by UDPK Bratang (Bratang compost) with lotos sieve size no. 40/60. Theoretical measurement of compost CEC is carried out using the Ammonium Replacement method. Research was carried out to determine the effect of initial concentration (CJ and pH of the Cu solution on Cu removal efficiency in the batch process, with variations in Cu solution Co; 5, 15, 25, 35, and 45 mg/L and variations in Cu solution pH; 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 10. The batch system was carried out using a stirring time of 120 minutes, a stirring speed of 80 rpm, a compost dosage of 5 gi L. The compost had a theoretical CEC of 56,607 meq/100 g. In the batch process, optimum results were obtained , namely the initial concentration of the Cu solution was 15 mg/L and the pH of the Cu solution was obtained at a pH of around 4. Under these conditions, the CEC of the media was 7,889 meq/ 100 g
