Abstract

Human resources are one of the dominant factors in a company, so workforce optimization is absolutely necessary to create effective and efficient working conditions. Seeing the large revenue target, large number of workers and complexity of the ship production process in the Merchant Ships Division, workload analysis needs to be carried out to measure the direct labors load and the amount of direct labors required by the Merchant Ships Division. Workload analysis carried out using the Full Time Equivalent method. The Full Time Equivalent (FTE) index resulting from workload analysis calculations using the FTE method is grouped into three categories, namely underload, normal and overload. From the results of calculating the direct labors FTE index in the Merchant Ship Division, there are 5 people in the underload category, 27 people in the normal category and 134 people in the overload category. Direct labors who are in the underload category will be given additional work load, while direct labors who are in the overload category will have their work optimized by looking at how much overload they receive to determine whether new direct labors need to be added or whether additional hours of overtime are sufficient. From the results of calculating direct labors requirements using the Full Time Equivalent method as well as labor optimization and efficiency, the total direct labors requirement for the Merchant Ship Division is 285 people, while the available direct labor is 166 people, so the additional direct labors required is 119 people.
