Abstract

A Suction Pile is a cylindrical steel foundation with a large diameter that is closed at the top and open at the bottom. This foundation is often used to support offshore buildings and platforms. In this study, an iteration was conducted to find the ultimate vertical bearing capacity or Vu > Qtotal. It was determined that a suction pile with a diameter of 8 meters and a height of 15 meters can withstand an axial load of 9093.44 kN.Accurate estimation of the penetration resistance of the Suction Pile foundation was obtained at the self-weight penetration (SWP) analysis stage. The depth of penetration due to the structure's self-weight was found to be 8.545 meters from the mudline. In the self-assisted penetration (SAP) analysis, the suction pressure required for the planned penetration depth of 13.95 meters was 263.354 kN/m² with a safety factor (SF) of 2. From the calculation of the bearing capacity of the suction pile foundation at the tip(Qtip), the suction pile foundation at the upper plate was found to be 4559.457 kN > 3655.07 kN.
