Abstract

Pengukuran kadar gula di pertanian tebu bermanfaat bagi petani dan industri. Efisiensi dan biaya rendah dalam pengukuran kadar gula merupakan parameter penting untuk meningkatkan produktivitas. Penentuan sifat optik seperti indeks bias yang berkorelasi dengan kadar gula, memungkinkan pengukuran cepat dan ekonomis. Sensor serat optik yang sensitif dan multifungsi dapat mengukur indeks bias larutan glukosa dengan akurasi tinggi. Sensor SPR serat optik memiliki keunggulan tingkat kepadatan integrasi yang lebih tinggi dan ketahanan terhadap interferensi yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan sensor lain. Pada penelitian ini, pembuatan sensor serat optik D-shape dilakukan dengan mengupas outer jacket dan memolesnya hingga menghilangkan sebagian dari bagian inti serat optik moda jamak, sehingga terjadi pengurangan daya transmisi. Bagian D, pada serat optik dilapisi emas (Au) menggunakan Vacuum Evaporator untuk menimbulkan efek Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR). Pengujian sensor dilakukan pada larutan glukosa dengan konsentrasi 1 - 10% menggunakan sumber cahaya dengan panjang gelombang 1550 nm dan optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) sebagai detektor. Berdasarkan perubahan intensitas menunjukkan sensor D-shape mempunyai sensitivitas sebesar 0,109 dBm L/mol dan 0,556 dBm L/mol berturut turut untuk tanpa lasisan emas dan dengan lapisan emas. Lapisan emas dapat meningkatkan sensitivitas sensor serat optik D-shape. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan D-shape dengan lapisan emas dapat mendeteksi indeks bias larutan glukosa lebih baik dibandingkan dengan sensor tanpa lapisan emas sehingga meningkatkan sensitivitas.

Sugar content measurement in sugarcane farming is beneficial to both farmers and industry. Efficiency and low cost in sugar content measurement are important parameters to increase productivity. Determination of optical properties such as refractive index, which correlates with sugar content, enables fast and economical measurement. A sensitive and multifunctional fiber optic sensor can measure the refractive index of glucose solution with high accuracy. Fiber optic SPR sensors have the advantages of higher integration density and better interference resistance compared to other sensors. In this study, the manufacture of D-shape fiber optic sensors was carried out by peeling the outer jacket and polishing it to remove part of the plural-mode fiber optic core, resulting in a reduction in transmission power. Part D, on the optical fiber is coated with gold (Au) using a Vacuum Evaporator to cause the Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) effect. Sensor testing was carried out on glucose solution with a concentration of 1 - 10% using a light source with a wavelength of 1550 nm and an optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) as a detector. Based on the intensity change, the D-shape sensor has a sensitivity of 0.109 dBm L/mol and 0.556 dBm L/mol for without gold coating and with gold coating, respectively. Gold coating can increase the sensitivity of D-shape fiber optic sensor. The results show that the D-shape with gold coating can detect the refractive index of glucose solution better than the sensor without gold coating, thus increasing the sensitivity.
