Abstract

IPLT (Instalasi Pengolahan Lumpur Tinja) Tambak Kalisogo adalah suatu instalasi pengolahan lumpur tinja yang berskala kota. Setiap harinya, IPLT ini menampung lumpur dari berbagai sumber. Lumpur limbah domestik tersebut berpotensi untuk dimanfaatkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi potensi fitoproses dari tumbuhan dalam menurunkan kadar besi (Fe) pada lumpur kering IPLT Tambak Kalisogo. Metode fitoproses dipilih sebagai solusi yang ramah lingkungan dan berpotensi menjadi alternatif yang efektif. Tumbuhan yang dipilih untuk digunakan yaitu Epipremnum aureum dan Orthosiphon stamineus B.
Penelitian ini terbagi menjadi penelitian pendahuluan dan penelitian inti. Penelitian pendahuluan terbagi menjadi empat tahapan yaitu pengambilan lumpur, propagasi, aklimatisasi, dan range finding test. Penelitian inti merupakan pengkajian yang dilakukan terhadap perubahan kadar besi dalam lumpur kering setelah penerapan fitoremediasi menggunakan tumbuhan yang dipilih. Eksperimen dilakukan di Laboratorium Remediasi Teknik Lingkungan ITS.
Penelitian menunjukkan Epipremnum aureum dan Orthosiphon stamineus B. mampu mengolah 100% konsentrasi lumpur kering. Reaktor yang paling efektif dalam mereduksi yaitu reaktor EI dengan dua tumbuhan Epipremnum aureum yaitu dapat menyerap 238 mg/kg Fe total dan mereduksi 4 mg/kg Fe tersedia di tanah. Kombinasi tumbuhan kurang efektif dibanding penggunaan satu jenis tumbuhan. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat membantu pengembangan strategi fitoremediasi untuk menurunkan kadar besi pada lumpur limbah domestik.

Fecal Sludge Treatment Plant (FSTP) Tambak Kalisogo is a city-scale fecal sludge treatment facility. Every day, this IPLT receives sludge from various sources. This domestic waste sludge has potential for utilization. This study aims to investigate the phytoremediation potential of plants in reducing iron (Fe) levels in dry sludge from the Tambak Kalisogo FSTP. The phytorprocess method was chosen as an environmentally friendly solution with the potential to be an effective alternative. The plants selected for use were Epipremnum aureum and Orthosiphon stamineus B.
This research is divided into preliminary research and core research. The preliminary research is divided into four stages: sludge taking, propagation, acclimatization, and range finding test. The core research is an assessment of changes in iron levels in dry sludge after the application of phytoremediation using the selected plants. The experiments were conducted at the Environmental Engineering Remediation Laboratory of ITS.
The research showed that Epipremnum aureum and Orthosiphon stamineus B. were able to process 100% concentration of dry sludge. The most effective reactor in reduction was the EI reactor with two Epipremnum aureum plants, which could absorb 238 mg/kg of total Fe and reduce 4 mg/kg of available Fe in the soil. The combination of plants was less effective compared to using a single plant species. These findings are expected to help develop phytoremediation strategies to reduce iron levels in domestic waste sludge.
