Abstract

The ever-increasing demand for oil and gas requires the development and revitalization of offshore platforms. One of the common methods for the installation of this platform is through lifting operations using a barge crane. However, one of the main concerns is the elongated strength of this barge under various load conditions, especially during heavy lifting operations which can lead to trim changes. The study aims to analyze the longitudinal strength of a crane barge during heavy lifting operations under different trim conditions. This research involves mathematical analysis using MOSES software to simulate changes in loads and their impact on barge structures. The analysis included calculations of shear forces and bending moments to compare the conditions of the keel event up to the 1-meter trim towards the stern. The results showed that the load distribution trend was consistent across trim variations, with significant increases observed around frames 8 to 47 (ballast tank locations) and frames 50 to 55 (pedestal crane locations). The maximum shear force occurs in frame 13, which is 1481 tons, and the maximum bending moment in frame 29, is 47450 mt.m. Both values meet the criteria allowed by DNV rules, thus confirming the structural integrity of the crane barge under the conditions analyzed.
