Abstract

5G mobile network services offer various advantages such as higher speeds, smaller latency, more device density, and better signal quality. However, the implementation of 5G in Indonesia has not been maximized, due to several possibilities such as the availability of bandwidth that has not been supported and the number of subscribers and prospective subscribers is still minimal. The research in this Final Project tries to evaluate an example of 5G network implementation on the campus of the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya, involving 2 operator providers, namely Telkomsel and Indosat. Using walk test and drive test methods, as well as G-NetTrack Pro and Open Signal software tools, this research successfully measured network performance with 16 different scenarios. In addition to measuring the quality of the 5G network, this research also compares it with the quality of the 4G network. In measuring the 5G setting in the ITS campus environment using the G-NetTrack Pro application, the average signal quality was obtained at -86.23 dBm for the RSRP parameter, -12.68 dB for RSRQ and an SNR value of 5.615 dB. As for the 4G setting, the signal quality in the ITS campus environment for RSRP, RSRQ, and SNR parameters is -82.97 dBm, -13.125 dB and 0 dB, respectively. Using a different software tool (Open Signal), 5G service quality in the ITS campus environment has download and upload speeds of 41.65 Mbps and 25.64 Mbps, while the latency value is 21.67 ms. In comparison, for the same location on the 4G network service has a performance of 20.69 Mbps (download speed), 20.69 Mbps (upload speed), and 28 ms (latency).
