Abstract

============================================================
The elderly population in Indonesia has been continuously increasing over the past five years, reaching 11,75% of the total population in 2022. The World Health Organization predicts that the number of elderly will surpass the number of children by 2050, raising concerns about the capacity to take care of the elderly optimally. In 2023, about 29% of the elderly live alone or with their partners, which increases the risk of loneliness and mental health issues. On the other hand, technology continues to advance across all demographics, including the elderly. The health issues of the elderly have become a primary focus, especially their accessibility and mobility have decreased. Currently, the number of applications that can assist the elderly in their daily lives, including maintaining health, is still insufficient. This poses a challenge that needs to be addressed. Therefore, this final project proposes the design of a multifunctional m-health application to support the physical and mental health of the elderly using a design thinking approach. The prioritized features include doctor consultations, online medicine purchases, exercise guides, meditation guides, elderly community, and health articles. The application design is intended to be user-friendly with large font sizes, contrasting colors, simple layouts, and representative icons. Usability testing of the application uses electroencephalogram (EEG) and user experience questionnaires to measure user experience. Usability test results indicate that several design aspects need improvement, such as color contrast, adding coachmark, improving icons, enlarging text, and clarifying article filter buttons.
